He is a very talented defender with skills that could use some polishing
Absolutely. His kicking is not poor, and looks to be smooth enough, but it does need work. He is not a Casboult. There is a lot to like about Glass-McCasker. He has enough pace to be able to play on leading forwards and is big enough to play on most marking forwards.

Our next Jamo?

Looking at it realistically, this guy was drafted at #71 and there is going to be a couple of very strong reasons as to why, no player with serious skills and ability etc slides that far.

If he works hard on the track and can improve whatever deficits he has, he may end up being a handy player for us. Otherwise, he'll be at the club for two seasons and then return to WA to play with his local footy club again.

Regardless of how good his bio and draft camp stats look, we cannot be lulled into the false belief that this guy will somehow be a star player, we've been down that route far too many times in the past and come out disappointed.

Hird was drafted at pick 79.

Pretty sure he went ok as a player.

Oh and he won a Brownlow.

It'd be sensational if he turned out to play at that level.

I'll be watching him with some genuine hope but at the same time, will keep the expectations lower than normal, he has a big task ahead of him.

He has the tools to play that kind of role. And I'd hope we'd coach him to be like that. So that he knew his defined role and could just focus everything he had on becoming that type of player.
