I don't know about the current broadcast rights deal, but the last one gave the rights to the curtain raiser matches to Foxtel.

Not the case. The TAC Cup GF is not part of the AFL TV rights deal. Never was.

Seven used to show the TAC Cup Grand Final because that's how it always was - GF marathon, GF breakfast, U19s, Reserves, Seniors. But when 10 got the AFL rights they said they wouldn't cover of the U18s cos it wasn't of national importance. They wanted a program that would be of interest to people all across Australia.

Ah, well Ten/AFL/MCC/whoever must of given Foxtel permission (probably for a fee) to air it because I saw it on Fox Footy one year (2005 I think).

I didnt think they could show 1989. I thought i remembered watching it the last few times the host said they couldnt show 89 or 2001 due to broadcast rights etc etc.

Would 1977 be the famous draw? Or the replay the week later? I would hope the draw. 2002 despite the result was a decent Grand Final, the year after was pretty pathetic..even though we lost it would have been better if we showed some sort of fight.

way to shun the 80s and 90s, if a network doesn't have access to all footage then they just shouldn't bother, those first four black and white, while still GFs, won't garner much interest than those from the later decades, i don't mind black and white GFs, but in small doses = zzzz to this "marathon"
