Having been a guest and a host numerous times I'd be interested in other peoples thoughts on this kind of new way to stay. In a sense it's going back to the past, pre-20th century where hotel chains ruled, but now peer to peer sites such as Airbnb put the guest/host experience truly back in local hands.
My partner will be doing her thesis on air BnB and the effects on travelers/hotels/taxation in the next 4 months.
Have you hosted? Have you been a guest?
We have been guests in London, Brussels and Rome, and we have also let out our apartment for a month in summer, where we made our rent for the month in a single week, then spend the rest enjoying other areas in the Sth of France.
Have you experienced problems? Would you use a hotel when you could rent an entire apartment for half, or a quarter of the cost?
Free for all, just interested in thoughts and opinions.
