David Armitage has to be in the discussion, has been A grade this year.

It's tough to get in the midfield, but he'd have to be in the squad of 40 at the moment you'd think. He's really gone up and level or two and his leadership has been fantastic.

Luke McPharlin has played on and beaten Schultz, Clark, Kennedy, Franklin & Hogan, 4 of them convincingly. Those players (excluding Schultz because of Rd1) had good lead up games having kicked 20 goals between them, Luke gave the 5 of them 7 goals.

Talk stats all you like but a list like that deserves recognition.
Is there an inside 50s stat ? I'd like to know how many inside 50s your midfield has allowed.

Tom McDonald has his name pencilled in at Full- Back at the moment. There is no disputing that he is the premier key defender in the competition right now. 'Elite' as far as I'm concerned.

Armitage had 45 touches yesterday. Has been massive this year and has to be in the team.

McDonald, Pittard, Armitage, Shiel the guys to have leaped forwards to put themselves into AA contention.

The rest of the team at this stage would be either the regulars (Pendlebury, Fyfe, Hodge) or guys who have been around the 40 in the past (Mundy, Goldstein, Kennedy).

McPharlin is the premier backman

The AFL Coaches Association disagrees. As do the statistics. I think I'll side with them. I'm tipping McDonald wouldn't mind having Fremantle's midfield in front of him either.

Why would the coaches vote McPharlin when there's Fyfe Mundy Neale Hill Barlow to dish them too as well

Thanks. You've essentially just proven my point and summed up a large part of why McDonald is having a superior season to McPharlin.

Is it also correct that he's had the most disposals of anyone in the comp this year (for the year)?

Has been carrying a huge load for us with Lenny gone, Montagna having only played two games, Dunstan apparently playing sore and Seb Ross (who was pencilled in to directly replace Lenny) not having played at all, after hammy surgery during the NAB Challenge.

Has just been enormous for us. Fully into beast-mode.

Cant be assed doing a whole team but am loving what Tom McDonald and Jeremy McGovern are doing for their respective teams, and they would both be absolute certainties for AA at this stage

Zero change to the early midfield since last week.
Would still go Goldstein Pendlebury Hannebury and Fyfe on the ball.
Mundy, Armitage, Shiel all likely as well.

Not many obvious early standouts so far this season.
