1996 - the year before Stuart Dew's AFL debut.

Where's he gonna be for 2016?

In the 2014 finals, the winning margins of the four week one games in order were: 36, 24, 12 and a draw.

We'll spotted! Actually, what I really meant to say was "damn, you beat me by about 2 minutes". Fibonacci would probably have something to say as well. Friday - 36; Sat day - 24; Sat evening- 12. The next number in the sequence would be 6, then a draw.

Disregard

Disregard the Port Adelaide and Richmond game like many Tigers fans have already done, and we got our six point margin last night. All set up for a draw tonight now.

Hawthorn's period of dominance from 1971 onwards came after the then VFL gifted them the best zone in the country (that never changed despite this being the original intention).

Amazing coincidence really

When Essendon beat Carlton in the 1993 Grand Final, they had nine more scoring shots (33 shots to 24)

The very next time they met, in 1994 round 9, Carlton had nine more scoring shots (27 shots to 18)

The next final Essendon played Carlton in was the 1999 Preliminary Final. The scoring shots in that game were exactly, the same amount as the 1993 Grand Final (33 to 24 in Essendon's favour)

The next time the two teams met, in 2000 round 5, Essendon, again, had 33 shots to 24.

Hawthorn's last two preliminary finals, 5 point wins with one less goal and 11 more behinds than the opposition. Hope it continues this weekend (preferably with a 15.17-16.6 win)

PF 2012: Hawthorn 13.19 (97) d Adelaide 14.8 (92)
PF 2013: Hawthorn 14.18 (102) d Geelong 15.7 (97)

So the next one should be....

PF 2014: Hawthorn 15.17 (107) d Port Adelaide 16.6 (102)

That is, if the pattern of beating opponents that scored more goals continues.

Edit: I should read the text and not just the scores next time.

Even in the midst of their golden era, Hawthorn never finished Top 4 in Leigh Matthews' career unless he played more than 19 games in any particular season.

Hawthorn won back-to-back premierships in 1988-1989 and exactly 25yrs later in 2013-2014 they repeated the achievement and this pattern continued on indefinitely.

Spoiler alert: I am from the future.

The last two teams to play North in a preliminary final and beat them comprehensively have gone on to lose the grand final comprehensively to a team that narrowly won the other prelim.

PF2: Port Adelaide 20.13 (133) def. Kangaroos 5.16 (46)

The North Melbourne Football Club resides in which suburb of Melbourne?
