Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Andrew Swallow (Carryover)

818746-swallow.jpg

After coming off a serious Achilles injury Andrew burst back onto the scene with some huge scores and will look to build on them with a full pre-season under his belt this year. Andrew is an elite IM, OM. Tackler or Utility when in form so hopefully he can get back to his best and have a huge year for the Rednecks.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Matthew Priddis (Carryover)

Due to Swallow's injury Priddis had to carry the load as Utility this season and the more than stepped up, he was immense for the Rednecks in his Brownlow medal winning season. Priddis, like Swallow can play IM, OM, Tackler or Utility and brings great depth to this midfield group at the Rednecks for the 2015 Season.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Dyson Heppell (Carryover)

heppell.jpg

The third and final of the Rednecks carryover's for the 2015 Season is the young and very impressive Dyson Heppell. Dyson can play a number of Roles including the IM, OM and Back roles, Dyson is an elite OM in the LFFL and will look to continue his impressive LFFL scoring with a huge year in 2015.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Nathan Jones (Pre-draft Pick #6)

Nathan-Jones-Melbourne-628x387.jpg

With the 6th selection in the LFFL's Pre-draft the Rednecks were looking to select an elite player, specifically a Forward or Ruck but with the better Forward's and Rucks carried over or selected already, Nathan Jones was just to good of a player to pass up at this pick. The Rednecks now have 4 elite midfielders and should get a huge score from their midfield nucleus each week. Another elite IM/OM combo as well as a high scoring Back Jones is a weapon for the Rednecks. Jones is also a former Redneck and is excited about the prospect of returning to the team for the 2015 season.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Justin Westhoff (Pick #5)

Justin_Westhoff628.JPG

As we have the midfield positions more than covered with our carryovers and Nathan Jones, the Rednecks went on the hunt for a Forward with our first pick in the LFFL draft. Was considering Matthew Pavlich with this selection but Westhoff has the age and a high scoring team on his side and that lead to him being selected. Westhoff takes a huge number of marks and accumulates the ball well for a key position player, which can lead to him being a big scorer for the Rednecks.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Mike Pyke (Pick #25)

mike-pyke-gf-620x349.jpg

With one of the Forward spots addressed the Rednecks next sought out to fill the hole in the ruck position, with many of the good rucks carried over or selected already the Rednecks made a bit of a reach for the big Canadian Mike Pyke. Mike might not get huge disposal numbers but he will get around 30 hitouts a game and anything else he gets is a bonus on top of that.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Jamie Elliot (Pick #34)

Jamie-Elliott3.jpg

With the forward stocks being thin as ever the Rednecks knew they would have to reach again to claim a good second forward, and they have done that in the form of Jamie Elliot. The little fella with the big leap is a marking machine, gets his fair share of the footy and as forwards should he also hits the scoreboard. Bit of a reach but I'm pretty happy with the pick as I think he is still yet to reach his full potential.

Last year I took Jack with my first pick in the pre-draft and he burnt me a bit, not by his own form just due to his injury. Once he returned he showed why I selected him, he has the ability to be utilised as an OM, Back or Tackler and is great value for a 5th round pick.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Bernie Vince (Pick #61)

333885_nl.jpg

Bernie has been picked up as he is coming of a huge year and will have a lot of opportunity to get the football for Melbourne in the next year as well. Bernie gives us extra versatility as he is a high scoring Back, OM or even a Forward or OM as a pinch hitter. Another good value pick.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Matt Rosa (Pick #80)

A bit of a risky pick here, considering the injury risk that comes with Matt Rosa, but Matt is a very high scoring player while healthy and we are hoping he can string a season of good health together and prove to be a value pick for the Rednecks. As a Back Matt is a high scorer and can even play the OM or even Forward at a pinch.

As the starting side has been all but rounded out, up comes the important task of picking the emergencies for the season. As a team that has been hit by injuries in the past it shows how important having depth in your team is. Langford is a high scoring IM, OM and could even be used as a Tackler and he will only improve as he continues to play more games. Good versatile, young player.

With our next pick we went with Matthew Jaensch, he is coming off a great season and hopefully he can continue to improve. He will give us some versatility in the back position without having to use one of our mids in that spot, with a solid average of 32. Also can be used as a forward if need be.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Jarryd Blair (Pick #117)

Jarryd+Blair+AFL+Rd+3+Collingwood+v+Carlton+iyDm2ZqmTqLl.jpg

Another former Redneck returns to Yankee Stadium in Jarryd Blair. Jarryd is a steal at this point of the draft, seeing as he is a starting quality tackler that will net you 5 tackles game in and game out. Good back up or even a potential first team player, very happy to have him back in the red, white and blue.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Luke Dahlhaus (Pick #136)

luke_dahlhaus_628.jpg

Dahlhaus is an underrated player in the league IMO, and he is moving forwards towards the prime of his career and I think he is a good pick for the time of the draft. Hoping he can make the leap from good player, to very good player and produce some big scores for me. Can be a Forward, Back, Tackler or either Mid and will see plenty of the pigskin playing for the Bulldogs.

Daniel+Wells+AFL+Rd+13+Essendon+v+North+Melbourne+Yxx8HKuhKVMl.jpg

Has been injury ravaged for a period of time but if Wellsy can get his body right he can be a damaging scorer as an OM or Back, very good player who at the very least will provide solid depth for the Rednecks.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Ed Curnow (Pick #166)

CurnowRd4ARticle_620X370.jpg

The man with many facial expressions, Ed Curnow, was our next selection at pick 166. Ed can provide good bench cover and is also a starting quality tackler averaging roughly 5 tackles a game, as well as a decent Back/Mid handy inclusion.

Blicavs the running big man who plays like a man half his size was our next selection. Selected primarily for bench cover in the Ruck position Blicavs is mobile enough for a key position player to even warrant selection as a Back or eith IM or OM. Blicavs continues to grow and develop as a player and could become a very good player for the Rednecks.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Jake Lloyd (Pick #194)

r215_208_786_678_w1200_h678_fmax.jpg

The hard running midfielder Lloyd broke into the Swans side, which is no easy feat and produced some pretty decent stats, as the draft comes to a close risks need to be taken and I'm banking on Lloyd to continue to improve and prove a good pickup for the late stages of the draft. A pinch of home town bias may also come into play with this pick, as Jake comes from my own club.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Rohan Bail (Pick #203)

As stocks are running thin towards the end of the draft I decided to go with Rohan Bail as my next selection, having in mind that job security may be easier to come by at Melbourne than other clubs meaning I'll be able to name him on the bench most weeks to help cover my starting side.

The big #50 Benny Brown came along in leaps and bounds in his first season and announced himself on the big stage with 4 goals sparking a famous comeback win in North Melbourne's elimination final against Essendon. Brown marks the ball tremendously, is a reliable shot at goal and has great footy nous, big steal with my last pick, starting quality forward as well as a Ruck backup.
