Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Matthew Priddis (Carryover)

490115682-matt-priddis-of-the-eagles-celebrates-a-goal-gettyimages.jpg

Simply the best in the Utility business. Utility of the year. All-LFFL Utility, Coaches Choice Utility, all utility everything. My boy Priddis puts up insane stats, clearance machine, racks up inside and outside ball, tackles galore, snags the occasional goal. The prototypical utility and glad to have him signed on for another season, to hopefully lead the Rednecks to their maiden finals appearance.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Robbie Gray (Carryover)

newdaily_290314_RobbieGray.jpg

We gave up a lot of talent to obtain Robbie in the mid-season trade period but the investment paid serious dividends at the pointy end of the season. While the team as a collective struggled Gray belted out big scores and was our most consistent scorer behind Priddis. Gray, like Priddis can do it all and do it al well, OM, IM, Utility, Back, Forward are all strengths for Robbie. We are hoping for another big season from Robbie as Port looks to rise back up the ladder.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Jack Gunston (Pre-draft Pick #7)

323328-tlsnewslandscape.jpg

A lack of Forwards has always plagued the Rednecks as it is arguably the hardest spot to nail and the big name Forwards are always carried over by their respective teams. With many options for the Pre-Draft I could have picked a player to fill any position but Gunston clearly stood out among the remaining forwards and players and looks to give the Rednecks the consistent forward they have always lacked.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Aaron Sandilands (Pre-draft Pick #11)

b8854912z.1_20150924221624_000_gujb4e76.3_1-1b081s2.jpg

The Rednecks have selected the giant, Aaron Sandilands with their final pre-draft selection. Sandilands' age is pushing on but that hasn't stopped him from continuing to be one of the dominant ruckmen of the competition. In only one of the 23 games Sandilands played in 2015 did he have under 30 hitouts, hopefully he can continue his consistent big scores and lock down the ruck position for the Rednecks.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Lachie Neale (Pick #4)

914801-afl-round-19-carlton-v-fremantle.jpg

With my first selection in the 2016 season draft, I decided to take Lachie Neale. Neale is a clearance machine and big accumulator of the footy which both lead to big scores in either the IM or OM position in the LFFL. Neale has a tendency to go big when he has a good game, being prone to 60+ score outburts which is what put him ahead of similar players in my opinion.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Jake Stringer (Pick #22)

c9356cd9bbc1a8e6562f75f21bbf5ed0

THE PACKAGE! Half the reason for the selection was due to Stringer having the best nickname in AFL history, the other half of the reason was due to the Forward position is one of the most pivotal in LFFL due to the difficulty to lock it down, and Stringer is pretty good as a Forward. Stringer also has improved every year he has been in the AFL system so if he continues his rise he could be a great pickup.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Brad Ebert (Pick #29)

Brad+Ebert+AFL+Rd+4+Port+v+Brisbane+tq7X0bDaCeMl.jpg

With my next pick I opted for a bit of versatility in Brad Ebert the Port Adelaide midfielder who does a little bit of everything and can fill more than a few roles for the Rednecks in the coming season. Ebert is more than capable as a Back, OM and Tackler and I'm hoping he is a player we can rely on for a steady contribution week in-week out while our star players bring in the big points.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Marc Murphy (Pick #45)

845696-marc-murphy.jpg

Murphy is a prolific ball winner, who can slot in to a number of positions for the Rednecks in the upcoming season. Marc is able to play as a Back, OM or even IM, allowing our squad some depth and versatility for the upcoming season.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Anthony Miles (Pick #52)

332148-tlsnewslandscape.jpg

Anthony Miles is a young clearance machine and can fill either role of an OM or IM as a result, averaging 35+ in both midfield positions. Miles has continually improved as his career has gone on and with Cotchin, Martin and Deledio attracting the tags and attention, Miles can often get off the chain and gather high numbers.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Rory Laird (Pick #69)

411500-053c20fa-c782-11e4-9504-1b97135f94e2.jpg

Rory Laird experienced a break out year last season racking up some outstanding numbers especially towards the tail end of the season, if he can replicate those numbers Laird can be a valuable addition to this Rednecks lineup as a consistently high score back or CC.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Luke Dahlhaus (Pick #76)

luke_dahlhaus_628.jpg

Luke Dahlhaus is a very well rounded footballer and a very well rounded LFFL player, as he can fill a number of roles for a side. Dahlhaus can provide great depth at the Back, CC, IM, OM and Tackler, proving to be a valuable asset to the team, he is also a former Redneck so we are glad to bring him back for the 2016 season.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Shaun McKernan (Pick #93)

478696840-shaun-mckernan-of-the-bombers-handballs-gettyimages.jpg

Had some other plans for my backup ruck, considering Sandi can be a little injury prone but between my last pick and this pick those options were all taken so I decided to take a risk and take a punt on Shaun McKernan. McKernan improved vastly towards the end of the season topping it off with a top 10 finish in Essendon's best and fairest. Will be interesting to see how the acquisition of Leunberger affects McKernan's role but hopefully he can provide a good backup in case big Sandi goes down.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Luke Breust (Pick #100)

Luke+Breust+Jack+Gunston+Hawthorn+v+Western+rMgy_0eUK8Vl.jpg

Luke Bruest joins his 3x premiership teammate Jack Gunston at the Rednecks courtesy of pick 100. Breust is a proven goal kicker. He just gets the job done, kicking his share every match and making the most of his chances more often than not. Backs and Mids are relatively easy spots in the LFFL but forwards are not and at this stage of the draft I only had Gunston and Stringer on my list, so Breust is a more than capable backup.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Matthew Jaensch (Pick #117)

My boyyyyyy. Matty Jaensch. 7 games - 26, 52, 33, 42, 23, 50, 30... 2 team of the week appearances, absolutely on fire and then... injury. Before injury Jaensch was pumping out huge scores for the Rednecks and we are stoked to have him back on board for the 2016 season.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Mitch Clark (Pick #122)

468718146-mitch-clark-of-the-cats-kicks-during-the-gettyimages.jpg

40, 37.5, 30, 30.5. In 4 of Clark's 8 games for the year he put up reasonable-very good scores and if he can stay on the park I believe he could be an x-factor for my side and a pivotal contributor. Clark is a high risk-high reward pick and late in the draft that is the name of the game.

Welcome (back) to the Rednecks... Ben McGlynn (Pick #139)

620795-ben-mcglynn.jpg

Ben McGlynn was the All-LFFL Tackler for our Rednecks in the 2014 season and then was a first round pick the following season but due to injury he struggled to get on the park. A poor, injury riddled season allowed him to fly under the radar and be picked up by me in the later stages of the draft, and if he can regain his elite 2014 form is a major steal.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Taylor Duryea (Pick #144)

taylor_Duryea_drugs_628.JPG

Taylor Duryea finished the 2015 season with a bang and with the loss of Matthew Suckling and the ageing of the other Hawthorn half backs I feel as though he can break out and emerge as a solid high scoring back in the LFFL. Duryea racks up the marks and possesions as well so he bodes as good depth for the Rednecks.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Jack Steele (Pick #161)

477854606-jack-steele-of-the-giants-tackles-drew-gettyimages.jpg

Jack Steele is pictured above doing what he does best, tackling. Steele is a young midfielder/forward with a big scope for improvement but he has the tackling instincts and desire that you can't teach. Steele should only improve with more games under his belt and is a more than solid backup option as a tackler.

Welcome to the Rednecks... Nathan Vardy (Pick #166)

032698-8996cc28-9cff-11e3-a9da-9bbf7f799bef.jpg

Nathan Vardy is a bit of a late draft flier for the Rednecks, I'm banking on him getting his body right and establishing himself in the 2016 Geelong side, if he can do this he can prove to be a valuable backup as both a Forward and a Ruck.

*If you're happy to be a Redneck clap your hands* - With my final selection in this years draft I picked with my heart and selected a favourite son of mine North's own Jamie MacMillan. JMac is a solid backup defender and will prove as good depth in case of injuries to the Rednecks starters.
