Haha!!! Back in the days I used to listen to SEN, Mark Allen was going on about how poor the Australian cricketers were. Some caller rang up and accused him of not having a clue what he's talking about as he probably never played the game. Mark Allen bit back saying he knew everything about cricket because he had played cricket in the Under 13s at school. I wanted to ring up and tell him I knew everything about golf because I'd had a hit and giggle on the Par 3 course near my home.
I would have to say, Mark Allen is the biggest tosser I've ever heard in the media which is really saying something.

The ratings are the bogun factor. For some reason the media feels it needs to cater for simpletons and offer nothing to people who like to think about their sport.

That depends on the time you listen.
Finey on Tuesday and Wednesday nights with Troy Zantuck and Steven Milne (the other one) requires a lot of knowledge.
Unforunately, my previous experiences with Finey would indicate otherwise.

The following comment won't please bedford cos of club associations but Finey is a 4 star flog. Apparently a good bloke off-air but a flog on it.

The obscure stuff about footy that they remember is amazing, and Finey isn't too bad, either. Rohan Conally and Bruce Eva are similar

Maher is a nasty person away from radio.
Know a guy who played with him at Marcellin in the OC's.
Most of the players take that level of cricket as a form to socialise and keep in touch with mates.
Maher was one of the few who took it seriously.
Was trash talking others because they didn't take it seriously enough.

I've said this before, but he used to talk about his old missus, Kathy, on the radio all the time. He'd talk about "Kath's Day", where they'd do stuff mostly for her.
Well, suddenly, "Kath's Day" disappeared from the radio, and a few months later he married someone else. Crikey! Any overlap?

Totally agree. Have been listening since day 1 when it was Lyon, Watson & Brownless and whilst it has gone down hill have continued to listen but can no longer put up with it. When Maher is the more tolerable one you know you have issues. Gaze's knowledge of any sport is appalling and even on basketball isn't that great. He has no opinion either. He will state something, get challenged and then go on about him not believing that but just stating an alternative view. But if people agree then that's his opinion... However if he ever has to do a live read it's like nails on a chalk board. The other morning whilst reading a prize list where one of the prizes was for Dandenong drive-in he read it as Dandenong drive hyphon in... I turned off there and then. He's a board member of Basketball Australia, I now know why basketball is struggling...
Dr Turf would be great but no chance of him ever doing a permanent breakfast gig these days.

I had to switch off SEN for good a few weeks ago because if I heard the ad for Melbourne airport parking one more time, I would have deliberately drove into a tree. The one where it says 'He drank a Sydney coffee", "Aw it was awful". "the fire alarm went off five times" "Aw I didn't sleep a wink.
