THE ANTI-doping tribunal’s full verdict on the Essendon supplements saga finds that ASADA failed to make a convincing case in any of its four key assertions.

Significant excerpts of the 133-page report, only released to the parties in the case, have been obtained by the Herald Sun.

The report appears to be extremely damning for ASADA.

Three members of the tribunal who considered ASADA’s case that Essendon players had been injected with the banned performance-enhancing drug Thymosin beta-4 ruled that each of the agency’s main arguments were manifestly flawed.

They found that biochemist Shane Charter, a key witness for ASADA in the early days of the probe, imported a substance purported to be Thymosin beta-4 from China, to be sent to compounding pharmacist Nima Alavi.
But they were not satisfied that the drug was what it had been purported to be.

The report goes on: “After considering the submissions of the parties (and) assessing the evidence ... the tribunal is not comfortably satisfied that the 0.25g of the substance purported to be TB4 in the first shipment from China delivered to Mr Alavi was, in fact, TB4.”

Im happy with the outcome. My thoughts of Hird enhanced after the Presser yesterday ( the apologies for the way thing were done 2012).
Doubtful anyone can sue anyone

Let the games begin.

Anybody can still sue, as they can't produce records on what was administered

That sounds like it will be hard to get Dank also

Isn't that irrelevant when it comes to anti-doping? If someone takes [legal substance] under the impression that it's [banned substance], aren't they still guilty of doping?

So there you go. The anti doping panel werent even convinced ALAVI was provided TB4 let alone Dank, let alone Essendon, let alone the players

More holes than swiss cheese

You must be so proud that the scumbags your Club employed, especially your coaches old mate, have been effectively able to keep up their end of the hide the evidence bargain.

Good recruiting right there. I fail to see how that makes you so happy though.

In other news, "significant excerpts" - selected to convey a narrow message - once again end up at the Hun. Wonder who mighta done that?

stop being disingenuous. You know I have been extremely critical of the program and the clubs behaviour in 2012

Not sure why everybody is giving mxett a hard time.

He has been critical of the program, and is happy with the result. Everybody has thrown it in his face over the past 2 years, and he has stuck around and showed respect. Cut him some slack

Disappointed that there are so many Essendon supporters on HTB now, then there was before the tribunal verdict. Double standards, they can't take the heat, but like to put it on everybody

im dissapointed so may people who claimed the anti doping tribunal would be independent and unbiased are now claiming they are corrupt, all because the outcome didnt go their way

Of course they are going to slam ASADA's case, the AFL and the tribunal is corrupt and would always look after a team from their competition so the damage can be limited among the whole competition. They got away with it and the fans will not let Essendon forget the scandal any time soon.... what next will Essendon cry foul and demand those watching at footy grounds keep their comments to themselves ?

This comment shows how disgusting the AFL is.

How is ASADA meant to prove that the drug was "what it had been purported to be"? It defies all logic.

The drug was purchased, compounded, injected and digested about 3 years ago. How the hell can ASADA categorically prove it was TB4?
  • It was purchased as TB4.
  • Essendon intended to use TB4.
  • The players admit they were injected with Thymosin.
  • The tribunal dismissed any possibility it was Thymosin Alpha
  • The tribunal concludes that there is insufficient evidence because of a blip in the chain orchestrated by Essendon and the AFL
The AFL is a complete farce.
