It's a fair enough point of discussion to raise (what if ASADA go for that angle- regardless of whether we think it's justified or not) without being accused of propagating an agenda.

That does not justify him making things up to support the discussion. Both Dank and Charter have been televised stating how they met with Hird. In fact Charter stated how Dank deceived Hird to create the meeting.

So we are discussing whether Hird should be stood down in the instance a trafficking change is pursued, but no one is suggesting he should or would be found guilty?
If an accusation that has no chance of actually gaining a guilty finding is enough to have a coach stood down, I might accuse Al Clarkson of raping me just to throw he Hawks off in 2015.

I hadn't heard it that way.

I agree with Xyle01 - I recall an interview with Charter where he says that Dank organised for him to "run into" Hird on the Gold Coast at Essendon's training camp in late 2011, with the purpose of convincing him that other clubs were ahead of Essendon in the sports science/supplements field, and persuading him that he should go along with what Dank was proposing.

I think it's fairly well established that it was Hird who put Dank and Charter together for the purposes of supply, for use at the club he coaches.

As I said, I don't think it'd stick, as it'd have to be established that Hird was specifically trying to get banned substances through the supply chain. But I think it's a chance to be pursued.

Dank could have sent a trained monkey to pick up PIEDs from an alibaba.com supplier in China. I very much doubt Hird arranged for Charter to be courier - why would he? Dank already has established supply chains for his business which has been running several years before he joined EFC.

I think it's more likely that Dank and Charter come to an arrangement were Charter would courier the goods and add on a huge markup, with a bit of a drink in it for Dank.

Are you serious? That is Echols worthy!!! You really think that Hird would have directed Dank where to source the supplements? Clearly it was Dank who brought Charters to meet Hird ... because they were both grovelling sociopaths who wanted to be closer to the exulted one ... and Charters would have told Dank about his previous engagement with Hird.

I find that assertion so funny, thought I though I should once again mention how crazy it is.

Think about it. What was Hird's job? What was Dank's job? Who brought Dank to the club? Dank worked in the same industry at Charters ... anti ageing rubbish for vain bogans like Sam Newman or that horribly ugly guy who coached the crows in 93. Hird had not had contact with Charters since 2002 .... or something like that.

Charging Hird for trafficking when he was not responsible for designing the program, providing doctor approval or managing that department in anyway ..... or ordering anything for the department .... is simply laughable.

Fair enough, he seemed to believe differently from what he'd heard.

My post was more pointing out that it's fair enough to consider out load what would happen in the (unlikely) event that any trafficking charge did arise. That's all.

So a friend of mine's saying he got info from a mate who works in the AFL that Essendon has spent $15 million on legal fees for this s**t! Also that it doesn't take into account paying Weapon out and that the players will sue the club if they get done. 100% likely to get harsher penalty than Cronulla from digging too deep a hole, 4-8 month suspension that won't be backdated (meaning that it's not off-season and it'll be 18 games missed). If Hird's paid out that's $3 million more apparently as well.

When did this cluster* get so bad that hearsay like this was floating about!? Then seeing stuff like Hird getting done for trafficking here is just making this even more ridiculous. That, or that AFL worker's a ******* knob who's politically grandstanding this bullshit. Are we eventually going to find out what's going on? This kind of abhorrent conjecture is getting on the nerves. This another "look like we're fighting 'till we fall" kinda thing?

If Hird were to be charged with trafficking banned PEDs, would people be happy to see him stood aside pending outcome?

No, I would not be happy. That would validate that the charges were based on something more than a bunch of bureaucratic ***&bags trying to further their careers and justify the wasting of millions of taxpayer dollars on chasing shadows while not caring how many good people get burned. F&*& that.

You need to settle down and try to have a conversation.

If it's eventually ruled that banned PEDs were at EFC, and hopefully that will be answered in the next few months, fully expect anybody who had a hand in it to face some sort of action.

If Charter sourced them from China for Dank, after a conversation with Hird, and for Hirds players, I think there's a chance he could be charged.

Again, I don't expect he'd be found guilty, but this is now being followed right through and I wouldn't be surprised if he was charged.

My question is if this were the case, do people think Hird would be stood aside until it was resolved. Because i think the AFL would force it... and come Jan / Feb that would not be a great spot to be in. We were so lucky to have a natural alternative last time... but I don't think Bomber would be around.

Harvey?

Fair chance the club is hedging its bets I think - a favorite son with senior experience ready to step straight in.

Just watching a repeat of the Alec Epis Open Mike.
When asked about how he felt about the current happenings at the Bombers he refused to comment. Epis said that if you are not currently involved in the Club then you shouldn't comment.
Great words wish more felt that way

I'm settled. Sorry if I came on a tad too strong. It's something I had heard before from that foamer so I had a prepared response!!

If he was responsible for trafficking and/or had a strong case to answer then yes he'd probably be out for good, let alone stand aside. However, I still think it is laughable and if ASADA tried that on it'd be a simple case for him to defend.

He agreed to the program after Robinson told him about it ... after Thompson had brought Robinson to the club, He only gave them handwavey agreement with some comment about safety and WADA compliant ..... because it wasn't his job. I hope our coach doesn't worry about that crap!!

Hey everyone, just wondering what your thoughts are if Harvey was found to be running an illegal utensil fighting ring? Should we keep him on, or should we stand him down? Just on the off chance it eventuated, I just wanted to canvass the room?

Illegal utensil righting ring you say? how terrible!!
Do you know where he was staging the fights?
Does he he charge admission for kids under 10?
How much would people betting on these chickens?
Does he sell alcohol and snacks at the venue where he stages the fights?

A hobby is a hobby.

What if Hird's appeal is successful and then his legal team goes thermonuclear on AFL and ASADA? Would you still want him to stand down?

Because what you are suggesting is he just stops after a successful appeal and we accept some stupid deal for some trumped up charges from a bogus and unlawful investigation.

Given Harvey's love of a head job, I'm sure any utensil fighting he does is done with the required SWA registration

Another example of how energy sapping being a communications specialist is these days:
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/essend...f-three-cuts-at-essendon-20141022-119wsg.html

So we've delisted Hardingham because he felt the club was 'unsettled' after the supplements saga.. yeah or maybe because he isn't good enough to get a game.. but whatever.. all good.

Now about that utensil-fighting ring...
Christ, I can just imagine the purple warrior reading this (hai, Damo!) and cooking up some 'exclusive' about Essendon having intricate links to those dodgy utensil fighting rings in Caroline Springs.

Don't worry.. apparently we only appointed Mark harvey because no one else wants to work at EFC under Hird.. and also so that he is ready to 'take over' when Hird is banned for life for trafficking..

Which would be hard when he didn't even get a show cause notices.. but all good.
