Australia Test squad - 2015

Maxwell will go as a backup all-rounder like he has to India and Dubai. I would not be surprised to see him batting at six for the second test now that Warner is out; it's a very Lehmann decision to make. He's one of the most talented bats in the country and I would not be surprised to see the selectors give him a run. Should they? Nah. But I wouldn't put it past them.

What are the odds on Khawaja coming back into the fold as a middle order batsman? I think he's been unfairly treated not be able to settle down in any one spot.
Do they play Maxwell in Bangladesh, does he come in for Marsh, or a specialist pacer, or bat at 5 or something? I still think he could be a great addition to the side if he ever got serious

Nope. Take that chip off your shoulder.

Explain to me why you'd want a 23 year old player who is still working out his first class batting to be playing all formats for Aus? How is playing international T20 when he has to come in and hit straight away going to help him with test batting?

I don't want him playing all formats before he's learnt his own game properly. It's got nothing to do with a chip and everything to do with wanting to see him succeed as a test player.

I've always had a soft spot for Khawaja. I'd like to see him given another extended crack. Give him Bangladesh, NZ and the Windies series this summer and if he fails then we'll finally know he's not up to it.

Warne wanted the 'aggressive opener' Cameron Bancroft

Always gives Bancroft a glowing endorsement considering he's quite certainly never seen him bat

I bet Marsh makes a big score against the Bangers and then they pick him for all 6 home Tests during which he will make a lot of very attractive looking 20s and 30s. Ugh. Bancroft made runs in the Shield and in the A-tour. Should get a look in ahead of perpetual failure S. Marsh. Khawaja at least did well in that A-tour from memory. Voges I have mixed feelings on. He pretty much completely failed to do the job he was selected to do in the Ashes, and yet he averages 46 from 7 away Tests and would bring experience to the side - something in short supply right now.

As for bowlers, Cummins should get a go. He's bowling well at the moment. Johnson, Hazlewood, and Starc should all rest. Pattinson doesn't seem quite right yet and there is no real point playing Siddle. I dunno, maybe play Faulkner as front-line quick. He did very well in his only Test. Scored an FC ton recently and is one of the canniest bowlers in Australia. I don't think we should play two spinners just because it is the sub-continent unless we actually have 2 spinners that are worth their spot. Maybe Agar is worth another shot, or Zampa/Boyce. Probably none of those 3 are quite ready yet, though.

Didn't know where else to put this, but well worth a read.

Basically, the brains trust at CA have spent 12 months rebuilding Pattoman's action to try and stop him getting injured - which has resulted in him feeling uncomfortable and impotent.

He reverts back to his original action during a Test, and instantly becomes a weapon again.
