Just thought I would start a thread for the Open, just in case of news and anybody wanting to talk about who they think is going to win.

When are people going. I will be at Hisense on Wednesday and Thursday. Grounds pass on Monday Tuesday and Friday. Will also go to a night session on RLA.

Looking forward to it. Five day ground pass again, have a few things on my bucket list. Will probably watch Raonic again, hoping to see Stanislas Wawrinka on an outside court after his epic with Djokovic last year, and parking myself at Eugenie Bouchard's practise court at the earliest opportunity. ;) :hearts: :p

After that I'll see who else gets a run on the outside courts and I'll make up a schedule on the run.

oh, another fortnight of money well spent! I missed 2013 but went to the US Open in 2013 to make up for it and cannot wait for the action to begin. Some of the best matches I've seen were on MC arena, hopefully it rings true in 2014.

I'm really hoping that it hasn't lost its atmosphere and intimacy with the court upgrade. MCA has always been my favourite court at the AO, there have been many long days and nights spent on the court watching tennis.

Hasn't Margaret Court Arena been increased in capacity and a roof added? Looking forward to that in particular.

ATP wise, hard to shake the idea of anyone other than Djokovic or Nadal winning.

Lleyton beats Federer in the final of the Brisbane International today 6 -1, 4 - 6, 6 - 3.

Life in the little warrior yet!!:thumbsu::rainbow:

My concern too is that it becomes another hisense. Although effectively they haven't changed it, just put a roof over it. Am hoping to get a chance to see how it is next week.

Capacity will increase by 2,000 but not until next year when it's done

Sorry to ask a dumb question but will there ever be plans to make the courts faster or will they just keep them as is?

Love the event but it somehow seems to me that there's this perception that since slower courts produce longer rallies it's considered more exciting, particularly for the casual observer.

Supposedly all Australian courts are faster this year - Brisbane definitely was.

Yep, I reckon they'll make it a ticketed court.

Ill be heading in on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Should be good.

Darren Cahill mentioned on Twitter that the AO courts are not faster this year, like in Brisbane. Which is disappointing.

That's a shame. Brisbane was much more interesting this year in my opinion. Part of it can be put down to a decent field, but the faster courts definitely helped.

Yeah, when I was at the December Showdown, the courts weren't quicker then so they shouldn't be now. Tiley came out today and said they aren't quicker so obivously just a Brisbane thing.

So clearly they are then. :p
