Australian Open 2015 - Day 2

I don't have time tonight to do a huge write up but I'll go through the main courts schedule:

RLA (11am start)
20- Stosur vs. Niculescu
4- Wawrinka vs. Ilhan
1- Djokovic vs. Bedene
Not before 7pm: Hewitt vs. Zhang
Rogers vs. Tomljanovic

Odd situation of having two men's matches on during the day but they should be pretty easy. No faith in Stosur understably putting her at 11am, matchup wise she should destroy ehr but she'll lose. Lleyton's match will be very scrappy but I can't see Lleyton giving that one up. Another Aussie import in Tomljanovic, would be favourite for that match I think.

MCA (11am start):
Alamgaro vs. 5- Nishikori
Townsend vs. 8- Woziancki
Muesberger vs. 29- Dellacqua
Not before 7pm: S.Williams vs. Van Uytvanck
17- Monfils vs. Pouille

Almagro is coming back from injury so that match might not seem as good as it does. Wozinacki should win easily. Dellacqua will want to repeat her heroics from last year, first match is very winnable. Serena will do what she does. Then an all-French battle, who knows with Monfils but he should win.

Hisense:
Stephens vs. Azarenka
Marcenko vs. 8- Raonic
4- Kvitova vs. Hogenkemp
Not before 5pm: Torro-Flor vs. V.Williams

First match is a nice match up but I feel like Vika is the hungrier of the two. Raonic will win easy. Kvitova will win easy. Venus will win easy.

SC2:
Gonzalez vs. 16- Fognini
Haase vs. 18- Simon
Rogowska vs. Gibbs
Nara vs. 6- Radwanska

Simon matchwill be a lot of fun. Rogowska would consider herself a chance against Gibbs however unlikely.

SC3:
Zheng vs. 19- Cornet
11- Cibulkova vs. Flipkens
9- Ferrer vs. Bellucci
25- Benneteau vs. Becker

2nd match is probably the best her, Cibulkova under a lot of pressure to defend her pressure. Benneteau and Becker could be a long one.

Almagro listed as retiring?
The others seem about spot on, should line that up as an epic multi bet!

Multi bets in round 1 are very dangerous. I recon today is the first day in 6 years I have got a round 1 multi bet.

Hraedeka
Halep 2-0
Sharapova 2-0
Bouchard
Goerges
Pliskova
Tomic
Troicki
Gasquet
Federer 3-0

Had $10 on Kokkinakis at $10.50

Watch me blow my profit tomorrow though.

Always a bit of risk but certainly adds some spark to match when have coin on it haha

You need to find value. The most interesting match tomorrow is Pironkova vs Heather Watson, Watson just won Hobart and Pironkova is playing well.

This side of the draw is boring to me compared to the other half.

I am interested to see if Serena is in the same form as she was at the Hopman Cup or if she will start out much sharper.

I have RLA tickets and would have preferred Stevens V Aza ahead of Stosur. If Stosur can't win she should retire as Niculescu can hardly hit a top spin forehand!

Not sure which thread this should go in.Here is a quick guess at how they may allocate the men's matches tomorrow.

RLA Murray v Matosevic Tomich v Kohlschreiber (Night)

HA Federer v Bolelli Kyrios v Karlovic (late afternoon)

MCA Nadal v Smyczek Groth v Kokkinakis (night)

2 Berdych v Melzer Goffin v Bagdatis

3 Dimitriov v Lacko Duckworth v Gasquet

Depending on how many mens matches they schedule on some courts maybe Anderson v Berkanis could play on court 2 or 3.

It's hard such a nightmare for the schedulers so many top players and aussies to squeeze in. I can't imagine Federer being on Hisense. Happy for Tomic to be the RLA night match

My guess:

Rod Laver
Nadal
Federer
Tomic/Kohlschreiber

Margaret Court
Kyrgios/Karlovic
Kokkinakis/Groth

Hisense
Duckworth/Gasquet
Matosevic/Murray

Exceptions can be made for 3 RLA mens matches like today with Wawrinka.

Which will be the night game do you reckon?

Looking forward to my girl Wozniacki later today, hoping Stephens v Azarenka is done before her game starts so they will show it on 7two. Followed by my other girl Casey Dellacqua on MCA.
