Ok, quarterfinals time, lets look at these matchups (11am start):
vs.
3- Simona Halep vs. 10- Ekaterina Makarova - H2H 1-0 to Halep - I have a feeling this will be a good matchup, Halep will be able to counteract Makarova's big well and match it with some weapons herself. Makarova keeping the rallies short ill be the key here. Halep in straight.
Not before 12.30pm:
vs.
7- Eugenie Bouchard vs. 2- Maria Sharapova - H2H 3-0 to Maria - Their French Open match last year was brutally tough and I expect more of that here. Genie losing a set in her last match is a question of concern and Maria seems to be turning the corner. Maria in straight.
vs.
7- Tomas Berdych vs. 3- Rafael Nadal - 18-3 to Nadal - Won his last 15 meetings over him, fair to say Nadal has the edge here and let's be honest whenever this matchup occurs Berdych fold like a cheap tent. The tennis so far from Berdych has been outstanding and will be trying to be attacking aggressive tennis. Rafa will do what he does best and grind him down and then play his own style of aggresive tennis with his forehand. Rafa in 3.
Not before 7.15pm:
vs.
Nick Kyrgios vs. 6- Andy Murray - 1-0 to Murray - Looking at their match in Canada, mMrray pretty much dismantled Nick just being way too solid and even Nick absurd serve and power couldn't get through Murray. I think this is a crap matchup for Nick (and going to be a huge issue heading into the next few years of his career) and may have already met his expectations since they were pretty low coming in. Andy is playing pretty well and should win this easily sadly.
