Re: Ballarat FL 2011 Season

So what you are saying is that Darley will win a game?

Proud club certainly wasn't going to let that happen two years in a row. Have recruited well, without recruiting high-priced superstars other than Pask, Fevola, Darren Leonard and Calvin Hassent if he can sort his VISA issues out.

Looking forward to a good year at Darley Park. Go Darley. Go Kane Steward.

Re: Ballarat FL 2011 Season

North City's prize recruit will not play

NORTH Ballarat City’s prize recruit Nathan Saunders will not play at the club this year.
Saunders has accepted a mining job in Western Australia, meaning he will not play for the Ballarat Football League club at all.
Club president Stephen Darbin confirmed that Saunders would not pull on the black and white, saying both he and the club were disappointed that he would not be playing.
The VFL veteran was touted as a star recruit when the club signed him in November last year after he was lured across from Geelong West-Saint Peters in the Geelong Football League.
He said at the time that 2012 was definitely going to be his last year of football, in that he wanted one final chance to win his first premiership in more than 20 years of football.
However, the job offer was said to be good to refuse.
“He’s very disappointed not to be coming to the club, but he went with our blessing,” said Darbin.
“He has got to put his career first. At the age of 35 he’s got to start looking after his future which is more important than one year of football.”
Saunders played 63 games for the North Ballarat Roosters between 2003 and 2006, in a VFL career that spanned over 186 senior VFL games.
He had planned to be an assistant coach at Peach’s North City.
Darbin said although the spearhead was a big loss, he felt the team would be able to fill the void.
However, he did not rule out trying to find a replacement.
“We will continue to look around but we know it is fairly late in the piece,” said Darbin. “We still have three tall forwards in Mick Williams, Ryan Hobbs and Aaron Clark up forward so we feel we should be all right there.”Saunders was unable to be contacted yesterday.

Re: Ballarat FL 2011 Season

Hi

I live in Melbourne and am playing footy up in the country this year and heard a rumour about a group of country players from different leagues training together at Gosch's Paddock in Richmond.
1. Is this true?
2. If so, can anyone train there?
3. What times do they train?

Cheers

Sportsbet odds are up:

Redan 2.85
North Ballarat 4.00
Sunbury 5.00
Lake Wendouree 7.00
East Point 11.00
Ballarat 11.00
Melton South 14.00
Darley 14.00
Bacchus Marsh 51.00
Sebastopol 101.00
Melton 101.00

What do you guys think of these ones? Do Redan deserve to be favourites? Which teams can realistically win the Flag? Have North Ballarat recruited much or has their expected improvement come from within?

i think Nth ballarat deserve to be favourites, you can never write off Redan especially come September but they have lost some talented players i think this year will be a very even year

Ballarat Football League has won the jobs of general and operations manager of the Riddell District Football League for this season.
Both competitions will retain their independence and identity but the BFL’s administrative resources will run the Riddell league this year.

Re: Ballarat FL 2011 Season

I wouldnt think so, the BFL are only running thier admin side of things and won't have any say in the league's 'important' decisions such as structure, adding teams etc

Re: Ballarat FL 2011 Season

Anthony Kilmartin has signed for an opposing club in my league up in Mackay QLD, he is a big ruck man from what I hear, how do you rate him?
