According to a reliable source WR Brandon Marshall will soon be released by Bears. Has said in private he would like to stick with Trestman

Can't see it happening but it would be awesome

Been in my new house for about 3 months and im getting my man cave all set up. Saw some nice Ray Lewis memorabilia in the Ravens shop but to my horror they don't post outside of the US. :(
Any one have any advice on how to get it to Aus?

There's plenty of reshipping joints that will do it for you. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2089718 has rundowns on some of them.

Yeah a few whispers around that the Ravens may try to get Marshall through trade.
Just depends on how much we need to give up.
His cap number is 7.7m next season, but I assume we would sign him to a new deal, like we did Boldin.
Anyway I say it won't happen, however both Habuagh and Ozzie know we need more offensive talent outside of Flacco and the O line

Michael Oher cut by the titans...
Looks like we dodged a bullet there

What bullet? He was a r1 pick that served the Ravens well (5 seasons).. got his ring and that's all you can expect from the big kid who worked hard to get the best out of himself. Be grateful.

That and Ricky Wagner was really good this year.

Must say he was the surprise of the season for me. Definitely an upgrade this year.

Didn't overpay to keep him = bullet dodged.

Never seen someone get more false start penalties than him.
Was an ok starter for 5 seasons, but really you want more than that from a first round selection.

Obviously didn't have the negative impact like you're talking it up… every club has had that 'O-Line flaw player' and it's amazing the Ravens kept him as long as they did >> starting for five years including the SB season!! Steelers had a OG named Willie Colon (funny name I know) who was the 'holding specialist':mad: flaw in the Steelers O-Line yet, he has a SB ring!!:eek:

Cowboys have Doug Free.. :D:D:D

Excuse me as I drag a conversation that isn't related to the initial SB49 thread to this thread **too much crickets singing in the Steelers thread**

Would you buy a Ravens Woodson jersey now?

Depends who needs to be proven a point..(foolish Steeler fans wanting a debate… my word) remember what I said.. student of the game first & foremost.

Let's put it this way GG.. If I wanted to.. and I rarely wear my Steelers guernseys enough anyway.. had to collect a jersey from each team, proximately throw-back to the era I followed would be my preference. But that's discussion for another day/ thread.

Even though the Steelers 70's dynasty accomplished greatness… The Steel Curtain was nowhere as stingy as the Ravens 2000 D.

Here's much of the reason WHY… and anyone who follows their team closely enough ought to KEEP the an eye out for the Division rivals.. the RIVALRY is IMMENSE… they call it HATE!! I don't care for hate… it's very much playing against your (evil) twin brother. Ultra competitive rivalry that produces the best out of each other MOST occasions.

I found this 'Football Life' On GG's not so fav Raven..

It's not that I'm not grateful.
but he seemed to have regressed since his standout rookie season.
The titans overpaid for him which was the dodged bullet, and we found as alright replacement in Rick Wagner.

Here are the key points from the Ravens presser today
The Breakdown: Takeaways From 'State Of Ravens'

Newsome Didn’t Dodge Needs Question

In recent years, GM Ozzie Newsome used this occasion to pinpoint what he saw as the team’s most pressing personnel needs. Tuesday, he declined to get so specific, stating several times that he just wanted to build the “best possible 53-man roster and practice squad.” I think he was saying something, not just dodging the question. If I may be permitted to translate, I think he was saying (remember, my words, not his): “We’re pretty good. Sure, we have some needs. You know what they are. Secondary. Tight end. Maybe a few other spots depending on how free agency goes. But overall, we’re pretty happy with the majority of our roster, say, spots No. 1 through No. 45. We want to bolster the rest, build up our depth. If we learned anything in 2014, it’s that you tap your depth more than ever these days. A lot of guys get hurt. You end up needing quality snaps from your low-level guys. We want to be as good as we can be down there, and since you never know where you’re going to suffer injuries, we’re looking to upgrade at any spot, wherever we can.”

Little Wiggle Room For Players With Domestic Violence Backgrounds

After the Ray Rice scandal, the Ravens were understandably going to be extremely cautious about bringing in players with a history of domestic violence. But they left themselves little wiggle room with their comments Tuesday. Newsome was unambiguous, saying, “It will be tough to bring a player to Baltimore with domestic abuse in their background.” It’s a commendable stance that could impact the roster immediately. For instance, some fans want the team to draft wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham, a top-10 talent with numerous off-field issues on his record, including allegedly pushing a woman down some stairs. It sounds like you can cross him off the Ravens’ list. Among veteran players who have been linked to the Ravens as possible cap-casualty additions this offseason, receiver Brandon Marshall and cornerback Cary Williams have been suspended during their careers reportedly for domestic violence incidents.

Forsett Higher Priority Than Thought

While the Ravens obviously loved what running back Justin Forsett did for them in 2014 – he was their MVP, for crying out loud – it was unclear how they felt about bringing him back, especially after Gary Kubiak left for Denver, as Forsett is a classic Kubiak-system guy. But it sounds like he’s higher on the priority list than some may have imagined. Asked about Forsett Tuesday, Newsome started by saying he had “learned something new since the end of the season” about Forsett mentoring numerous younger backs during his career. It was said with admiration, as another reason to keep Forsett aside from his on-field abilities. Given that and the fact that a new deal for Forsett probably won’t break the bank, the chances of him playing for the Ravens in 2015 have gone up in my mind. “We will want to try to retain Justin,” Newsome said.

No Panic With Re-Tooling Secondary

Newsome certainly isn’t panicking as he sets out to try to fortify a struggling, injury-plagued secondary that was the Ravens’ biggest problem in 2014. “Our secondary is going to be good as long as we can rush the passer, which we can,” he said. That doesn’t mean he was happy with what he saw. Matt Elam , the team’s 2013 first-round draft pick, “has to be a better football player,” Newsome said. Terrence Brooks , a 2014 third-round pick, has “shown flashes,” hardly high praise. But don’t look for wholesale changes. It seems his plan for rebuilding the unit begins with cornerbacks Jimmy Smith and Lardarius Webb returning to 100 percent health. With those two and safety Will Hill , the unit has an outline that Newsome seemingly likes. Sure, there will be additions via free agency and/or the draft, but not a ton. Bottom line, the Ravens feel injuries were the biggest culprit for that unit’s falloff.

Bisciotti, meanwhile, made a direct comparison to a past free agent when discussing why it may not be prudent to pay Smith as much as he might be looking for.

"Do you hope that Torrey doesn't break the bank out in the open market so we can get him for our number? That's a hard thing to say. I care about the kid, I want to maximize his earnings," he said. "... some of the numbers thrown out there we can't match. We don't have that kind of space..."

The difference between what we can pay Torrey and what he gets on the open market, umm, Mike Wallace got $10 million. I don't think anyone thinks that was a good deal. And so there is always a team that has lots of money that wants to bring in playmakers and those guys are going to get those deals."

So I think after reading all that. It sounds like Torrey will be GONE and Forsett will be back.

It looks like our BPA draft strategy will not change regardless of our perceived crucial needs.
They left the door open a bit for drafting DGB by the way they discussed the domestic abuse issue. In the end I see us taking one of Gurley, DGB or Peters because they will be seen as the best value at 26. That's just my opinion though.

Losing Torrey leaves us pretty thin at WR i reckon, Good that we are Prioritising Forsett and hope his form carries over to a second season.
A little concerned though our lack of secondary urgence, while its all well and good to say we will look to rush the passer... Good O-Lines with good quaterbacks will pick us apart.
