Pure genius.

Can't post an example, but this bloke is something else altogether. He fulfills all of the prerequisites of great art, especially in the areas of creativity and uniqueness. I'd love to have an encounter with that mind, but I think I'd be, inevitably, disappointed. That would be my problem coupled with unrealistic expectations. Look at the work.

The only objections I have to the work you've posted are its lack of relevance and seriousness. ;)

i like him, has some good things to say about art. and some other things which make me believe he's a bit full of himself.

i like the story about asking the palestinian what he thought of the piece he painted on the wall and he just told him they hated the wall, why are you trying to make it beautiful or something like that.

He's alright. Street artist specialising in social commentary and irony. Although making those tenners with Di's face on them, distributing a large wad of them into notting hill carnival and people spending them in the local shops was pretty funny.

if you get a chance watch that doco ' Exit through the gift shop'. It's not really that much about bansky but is quite interesting and funny.

It took me a while to realise it was a pisstake, wasn't really until that guy got his own exhibition before I worked it out - Very cleverly done -

If this was in the Martin Bryant thread, it would be considered as an affront to the millions who were slaughtered in the concentration camps.:p

Yes me too, had no idea. I really liked tierry because it's hard not to admire someone who isn't in the least bit self conscious and willing to give anything a go.

Then the penny dropped. Brilliant and fairly ballsy of banksy to make such a statement against the art scene.

edit: reminds me of Dan ashcrofts article "The rise of the idiots" and how that made him a cult figure with them.

Skilled artistically...shame he has the political depth of a high school student who has just discovered some famous political authors the vast majority of the time.
Why? I don't get this post? Political depth? There's depth in politics? Hahahaha!

Completely overrated. Thinly veiled metaphors and okay artwork. He's left-leaning but he does what thousands of others do, and plenty of people get caught up and think they're hip and cool and liberal because they know his name and reckon "omg we really are under cctv!"

I disagree. I think he's brilliant. I rate him highly. I enjoy the fact that a lot of what he does is question the western social status quo (especially mindless consumerism).

But I guess I really just think I'm hip and cool and liberal.

"King Robbo". Bah!

Should be honoured someone as talented as Banksy bothered to paint over the generic s**t he has painted. Difference between a vandal and an artist is clear here. Hilarious listening to Robbo accusing Banksy of not being original. Look at the s**t Robbo does. Like every other tosser going around...
