Movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (March 24 release date)

Superman can be beaten. It depends on the level of his powers in the story. In the Animated Series for example, he had to wear a space suit to breathe outside the atmosphere. He can be made perfectly beatable if it suits the story.

However he has weaknesses besides Kryptonite. He gets his power from the sun. Cut that off and he's in all sorts of trouble.

As awesome as The Dark Knight Returns is, it looks like they might be getting some stuff from that for this movie. So if you don't want any potential spoilers, don't read it/about it at least until after you see this film.

Has rarely been a problem, one would assume he can store energy like we do with food. It's not like we instantly stop having energy when we stop eating. But cut the sun off for a prolonged period and Supes is in trouble.

But, like I said, it's always up for interpretation in different adaptations.

Whilst Superman 4 was laughably s**t, the concept of playing on Superman's weakness against radiation was quite good.

Kryptonite is always the go to idea in 'how does one stop Superman'. But I'm hoping this film draws on and explores some of the lesser known ways. Which of course there aren't many of.

i reckon there's one thing batman has over superman, it's planning. reckon he'd be able to come up with a strategy to defeat superman.

prediction for movie: they will be ready to beat the s**t out of other then suddenly are interrupted by a bad guy. b/S will join forces and vanquish the bad guy.

I have no idea who is good or bad in this movie and I love it... paints Supes as the bad guy with the people seeming to turn on him at the start of the trailer... and in particular the military guys kneeling to him, then the voice over when they show Bruce Wayne makes me think he's going to turn bad.. love it

Liked Batman's voice. I always found Bale's prank call voice distracting.

The dark imagery is getting a bit tired to be honest. It couldn't have come at a worse time given the hype generated by the Star Wars trailer.

Batman can be perfectly light. It doesn't always have to be so over the top. I wouldn't have minded a change.

My kingdom for Robin to be introduced at some point.

I think that's the thing I like most in the trailer (apart from Jeremy Iron's Alfred narration and seeing Batman looking really imposing).

The movie is meant to take place in the aftermath of the events of Man of Steel (which polarised viewers and critics - particularly for the massive destruction and countless lost lives in the final battle that Superman didn't save). So it seems this movie will address the fallout of MoS (with some people seeing him as a hero, or even from the trailer - as a god; whilst others see him as a bringer of suffering, destruction and represent something to be wary of). Then you've got the government too who probably don't know whether to trust him either.

I get the feeling Lex will play a big part with scheming and perhaps plotting to have Batman and Superman fight.

As to who wins, I reckon neither will lose (essentially a draw). They are the 2 biggest characters DC have and with the Justice League film following this film, they surely wouldn't want to weaken one in the eyes of moviegoers.

And like TDKR, I doubt the physical fight itself will last long. Even though Superman was 'defeated' I remember it only really finished because Bruce had a heart attack (a few cracked ribs wouldn't have helped his cause).

The contest between them will be more so political jostling and a power play etc, until they inevitably side together to form the JLA.

There was a quote in the trailer from Eisenberg - something about Devils not coming from the ground beneath but coming from the sky. That would definitely suggest he's in the Anti-Superman brigade.

Am still yet to definitively work out the sequence of voiceovers in the opening minute or the trailer. Yes that was Eisenberg with the 'coming from the ground beneath' comment but I think it was someone else who said 'coming from the sky'.

Note the usage of different sound chanells - Eisenberg's (and other anti Superman comments) appear dominant from the right speaker. Pro Superman, the left. Very clever.

Its barely been discussed so far, but that Batwing. Very slick. The Batmobile seems similar to the Tumbler and there was also a very Nolan-esque shot of Batman on top of a tower overlooking the city.

Affleck looks fantastic in that Batsuit. As I thought he would from the outset.

the concept of heroism is strong these days in the superhero universe. spiderman was seen as a vigilante before becoming all loved. but on a larger scale, the avengers, questions were raised as to whether they can be trusted. x-men seen as foreigners from another world. etc. i really reckon directors of these movies are using the base emotion of fear as tools to get us viewers so engaged. i mean in todays climate its so SO SO relevant.

i also cant see the death of either hero as there will be a JL movie and both are in it.

yep from every war or battle there's always an enquiry. i hope superman is brought not to justice but to account for his contribution to what some say is collateral damage. for me personally i did like the senseless destruction. it was different, dark and gritty. usually in these movies (except batman of late) everyone seems to escape scratch free.

No I don't believe we saw anyone actually die, but it almost implied. Particularly early in the battle, where people likely would've still occupied many of those buildings.

Granted, there would've been time to escape those towers by the time Zod and Supes have their tennis match through them. But the aerial photos of the battle had me thinking that geez, the death toll here would've been massive:

Yep that's a great point that has intrigued me. The posturing and positioning of the characters will be a key plotline in itself. The divide that was previewed in the trailer was pretty fascinating stuff.

Batman needed to be quelled in TDKR because only he had the ability to clean the streets of Gotham, which embarrassed the government given what else was happening in the country. I can't see them going down a similar path for this film though.
