So, given the success, interest and discussion taking place in the Movie Draft threads, particularly about which are the best movies in specific genres, I thought it might be interesting to compile a list of this forum's favorite movies. The best way to do that, it seems to me, would be for people to put together their own lists of their favourites and compile them into an overall ranking.

The way to participate is as follows:

1) Create your list. Try to pick your favourites, don't worry too much if they're critically acclaimed or would likely appear on anyone else's list.

2) Order your list from 1-10. Make it clear what your order is, as it will be important for the tallying of the votes. Unordered lists will not be counted.

3) PM me your list. You can include any comments about the films you want (ie. What you like about it, favourite scenes/characters etc.) and they may be included with the film when the list is poster. You can also choose to post your list in this thread as well, but it's not required.

You will have two weeks to collate and submit your list. Voting will end Sunday 24th of March. Any questions or queries should be posted in this thread.

Couple of notes:

Make sure that you are specific about which movie you are voting for, particularly if there are movies of the same name or remakes out there.

eg. 12 Angry Men (1957) vs 12 Angry Men (1997)
Captain America (1990) vs Captain America (2011)

In the case of film series, you should be voting for specific movies within that series, rather than the series themselves.

eg. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) instead of just The Lord of the Rings
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004) instead of just Harry Potter

Any other clarifications made will be posted here.

Great idea. Was planning on doing it myself but have never get around to it. I think like myself, a lot of film fanatics will struggle with a top 10, and have found top 20s work well on similar polls on other forums. But you're the one who's running it so so be it. If you need any help counting votes I put my hand up for any assistance.

I know what you mean. I was debating whether 20 would be better, but I'll go with 10 for now.

Given that there's been roughly 30 or so people participating in the Movie Drafts, there should be enough people with enough of an interest to make this worthwhile from this board alone. If I'm struggling for lists, then I'll post on General and maybe some of the team's social forums to get more votes.
