I'm hearing you. That position has been taken by the mods here as well and the result is what has happened and continues to.
If it was on the main board it would be closed period, as was just done with the Goodes thread and is often done to stop the circular bulls**t.
They try it on in another thread, they get warned. They try it on again, they get a rest. They've had their turn and more.
It's not that they haven't been given an opportunity to make their point.
It's done on the main board and there is no reason it shouldn't be applied similarly here.
...or just ignore the Priddis thread and everyone wins?

People are scared to vote for Priddis for fear of being attacked or labelled as an idiot it seems.

As he's clearly had a very good season.
Hope he goes back to back.
People are scared of what someone says on a forum about who they vote for in a game? You guys are taking this to unreal levels now. Maybe, just maybe, not everyone thinks like you do about a certain player?

Well seeing as the" Come on Boys" from our mod doesn't apply to you apparently, I'll engage.
You don't get to play the whole "nothing I say here has any affect on anyone" without being called the liar you are.
There's plenty of studies on human interaction and group dynamics for you to go and educate yourself on if you don't have the requisite knowledge.
Statements and conversations on internet forums impact human behaviour. To try and say otherwise lays in the realms of bullies attempting to absolve themselves of any responsibility and the truly imbecilic few.

For someone trying to lecture me on "bullying", which apparently includes expressing an opinion on a player, your posts come off as much more aggressive, rude and offensive than just about anyone elses on this board.

Ah so you do have an opinion affected by a conversation. Well what do you know.

No, I don't actually care that you are agressive, rude and offensive, it has no impact on me whatsoever and has not effected my opinions on anything other than what I think of you.
Another lie, this time to yourself. Apparently you care enough to make judgements, assertions and to carry on the conversation.
Not bad considering you reckon nothing said here has any affect.

I responded to you because you responded to my post. Funnily enough that's how discussions work. Forums would be very exciting if it was just a bunch of people posting random non-related sentences that everyone just ignored.

Or people don't think he is in the top 5 for each game

If the scoring system was rate each player out of 10 - he'd be much higher

Priddis if nothing else is very consistent. Many a time he's been in my 5-10 range. In fact he has probably been there most games for me.

Exactly what I was going to write. I couldn't give two *s if someone doesn't like who I vote for, I just haven't thought he was in the best 5 in any of the first 5 games. In 3 of those games he was probably 6th to 8th best and the other two games he stunk it up.

In rounds 6-9 I've given him votes in 2 of the games. He has improved immensely in the last month.

How much data do you keep fidstar? Would be interesting to see who each poster votes for the most over the whole season etc

Pile of poo

Im a regular anti priddite in the plod thread - domo went on about noone giving him votes this week and i gave him votes

How weak minded do you think people are?

Hes had some stinkers early on in the year where he wouldnt have cracked top ten - hes then had a few ok games where he was 5-10 - hes had one where he was pushing top five for some and the last one where i thought he was quite good. If he continues like he did against geelong he will continue getting votes. People here unlike elsewhere see the good AND the bad

Everyone is going to have their bias

Mine tends to go to defenders If I'm choosing between a few at the 1,2 vote MarkMark

I've loved shepp and Wellingham most of the year and given decent votes

There was a while there I was the only bloke giving glass votes

Yeah for sure, everyone has favourites and sees different contributions each week. Will just be an interesting stat at the end to look into.

I think most of my votes have gone to backs and forwards this year with a sprinkling of mids, probably in line with the average punter

You also have to take into account exactly what we expect from each particular player.

Some people gave Duggan and Nelson votes this week. Were they in our top 5 for output? Most likely not, but if a player performs higher than expectations whether it be with disposal output, hunger, bravery or whatnot, you can expect them to poll.

I tend to ignore disposal tallies until after i've voted and just go by who i thought had an impact on the result or exceeded my expectations. I think Masten generally suffers from my way of thinking, as he's constantly racking up touches but i don't really notice him and i don't think he has a huge impact on the game short of being a tireless runner and link man. We all vote differently.

Round 6 actually had us all starting to believe. We knocked off a team that got within a kick of last years grand final on their own turf. I remember at the time thinking "What the hell is going on - We just beat Port!". Our third straight win.

Winner of the Brayden Lyle Medal was Luke Shuey.

Notes -

1) Easily our most even performance of the season to date. Amazingly no one appeared on every voters list. Best performers were Luke Shuey who was on 58 of the 63 ballots. Yeo was on 53.
2) Amazingly 17 players received votes. Equal most for the year.
3) There didn't appear to be a popular choice for BOG with 6 different players getting selected. The most in any previous round was 4.
4) Priddis had his most votes for the year to date ;)

Notes -

1) It was a pretty unanimous decision for the top two spots. Yeo had votes from everyone (60), while Priddis had votes from 59 people (flamingEMBERS was the only one to not give him votes). No one else give Priddis less than 3 votes. No one gave Yeo less than 4 votes. Amazingly Priddis and Yeo filled the Top 2 spots on 55 of the 60 voters votes.
2) Bennell picks up his first vote of the year.
3) Masten received votes from 46 people and Wellingham from 44.

Round 8 saw us clean up a fairly impressive St Kilda who even pushed for the lead midway through the third term.

Notes:

1) Luke Shuey was a clear best on ground. Somehow despite being clearly BOG he failed to pick up votes from 2 of the 64 voters. His vote spread was 59 x 5 votes, 1 x 4 vote, 1 x 3 vote, 1 x 2 vote and two zero votes.
2) Duggan was picked 51 times and Cripps 49.

2) Who would have thought Cripps would be Top 5 after 8 rounds?

Round 9 saw us touch up Geelong by 9 goals. After the game all non eagles fan wanted to talk about the fall of the cats rather than the rise of the eagles. Oh well, I guess we will enjoy being 7-2!

2) Scott Selwood got his first votes for the year. Probably will be his last!

Notes
1) Top 5 has a gap on the field. I think most people would expect that those 5 will finish in the Top 7 by the end of the season. Out of the other players you would expect Gaff to finish Top 7. Not sure who the other one would be. Maybe LeCras, Wellingham or Priddis.

I was bored so I tallied the votes based on reducing the average votes back to a 5-4-3-2-1 voting basis as if Big Footy was voting on the award. The results are below...

Elliot Yeo ....................21
Jeremy McGovern ........17
Luke Shuey .................16
Josh Kennedy ..............14
Nic Naitanui ................10
Jamie Cripps ................9
Mark LeCras ................7
Andrew Gaff ................6
Chris Masten ...............5
Matt Priddis ................4
Sharrod Wellingham .....4
Sam Butler .................4
Matt Rosa ...................4
Liam Duggan ..............4
Shannon Hurn .............3
Dom Sheed ................3
Josh Hill .....................2
Brad Sheppard ...........1
Will Schofield .............1

Notes
1) Elliot Yeo has a bigger lead looking at it this way. This usually means his good games are better and he doesn't have the consistency of the other guys.

Round 10 and our winning streak was blown away in Tasmania. While it was a disappointing loss, we were far from horrible.

Note
1) As with most of our losses this year the total number of votes were lower than normal (only 49). Wellingham picked up votes from everyone, while Gaff (47), Priddis (38) and Yeo (36) were next most popular
2) Only 12 different players received votes. Lowest for the year.
