Love how Carlton fans keep pointing out that Yarran is contracted and that WA sides are going to be interested in him.

Firstly being contracted means bugger all these days. Sure it gives the selling club a little more leverage but only a little as many players and their managers these days are ruthless and will play a number of games in order to force themselves to the club of their choice (see Pickering). These games range from not showing up to best n fairest counts, handing in transfer request and threatening to not give the slightest of *s for the up coming season (all lower trade value). But more to the point regarding Yarran, the fact that he has had multiple meetings with our recruiting staff and has apparently had a medical suggest that Carlton are more then willing to parts ways for him. So the holding him to his contract carries little weight seeing as they want him gone within reason.

Moreover the threat of interest from WA clubs carries little threat due to them having their own interest in players who will likely command a first rounder such as Jetta and Redden. Therefore their offers will be of very similar in terms of value to our offer (second rounder) and it basically comes down to who Yarran prefers as to where he ends up.
