A man's got to eat - but when going out for a stroll with a lady may not be the best time.

Clearly retired AFL player Matthew Richardson didn't get that memo.

The 39-year-old, who is affectionately known as Richo to his fans, was spotted on Monday in south Melbourne scoffing down a piece of meat while his long-term girlfriend Genevieve Holliday was so embarrassed she walked behind him.

With his angular jaw hanging open, the handsome former Richmond player lowered the food - that looked like a piece of chicken - into his mouth.

He also enjoyed some dipping sauce to flavour his grub in a small silver metal dish that he held onto tightly.

Chewing with his mouth open didn't at all bother Matthew but it clearly annoyed Genevieve.
