aBORTs presser was classic aBORT. Lots of 'ums' & 'well um', & the saying something quite inane2 or 3 times in a row for the expected emphasis, which just falls flat.

He is bloody pathetic.

He has to stall for time until his mind can catch up.

One of the most uninspiring public speakers I've seen in politics.

Sinkers was speaker for a bit, there's a history of electing old fools to the chair, regardless of Party.

The position requires someone who has been in parliament for a decent amount of time, so they know the rules, precidents, customs, etc. Add to that that after taking this job, it's pretty much the end of their political career (has anyone ever gone from speaker-> ministry, even with a gap between jobs?). Tends to mean that it'll go to the older members who are approaching retirement anyway.

It just shows her mentality. Her born to rule mentality. Its like she thought & behaved like old style royalty. She couldnt even see the problem. The 'let them eat cake' approach to her position showed that. Her apology was too little too late. Her head was already in the political guillotine.

BB was the worst & most disrespectful speaker of all time. She was just the worst sort of party political hack. That was the fault of a PM who also has no respect for the Parliament. Captains pick crap was arrogance plus plus, to the country, the parliament & even to his own party.

Whatever happened to the 'adult' behavior we were led to expect? AND EXPECTED TO SEE?

Hopefully we can see some change to that selfish mentality. I doubt it. aBORT promised change before.

Most electorates have career pollies who think they're successful types if they manage to raise a finger and vote for blokes buggering blokes, or maybe complain about the intolerable cruelty of having the odd refugee kid getting the wrong sized shoe.

Me Aunt Bronnie was a tireless charity worker and at least contributed massively. Tens of millions for charity forgotten in a flash.

A bit of chardy and the odd private jet and limo was a small price to pay for royalty.

Reminds me of when the Queen had to flog off Brittania because a few nthn bogans thought it was a tad excessive. Ridiculous.

fwiw. Mike Seccombe said on The Drum today, that she is the worst speaker since he entered political journalism. Adding that he'd never thought he'd see someone worse than Leo Mcleay.
