Lance Franklin
Lance Franklin is a giant of the game. The star Sydney Swans forward has played 300 AFL games, won two premierships with Hawthorn, is the seventh-greatest goal-kicker in VFL/AFL history, is one of just five men with eight All Australian blazers and is the most recent player to have kicked 100 goals in a season. The Western Australian is also one of just two players in the game’s history, along with former Swan and Saint Tony Lockett, to have booted 300 goals for two clubs. Franklin was added to a leadership group for the first time in his career ahead of season 2020, joining co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Callum Mills. But the 33-year-old, who was named captain of the 2018 All Australian team, has long been considered an exceptional unofficial leader, so great is his impact on Will Hayward, Nick Blakey, Ben Ronke and the rest of Sydney’s young forwards.

Buddy is third on the AFL website's Brownlow predictor with 20 votes up to the end of round 22, two votes behind Ablett and Duckwood. Might be worth a punt.

That would be absolutely amazing, imaging Syd V Hawks grand final with Coleman Medalist, Brownlow Medalist L. Franklin at CHF for us. Some Hawks fans would spontaneously combust with rage :D :D

In reality though, how many times has a forward kicked 4+ goals in a game and been a match winner, only to get 1 or 2 votes and have the 3 go to a midfielder. Highly unlikely a CHF will win the brownlow without kicking 100+ goals in a year again. Even if it is Buddy.

If i'm wrong, i'll glady eat my hat.

Yep, that's the reason I think he won't win it, I'll be curious to see how he polls in the games he's kicked 4+ though.

Hope he does that well. But I won't be surprised if he ends up beached on 15 votes or less.

interesting we were 4th for guernsey sales and our most popular was Buddys 23.
One of the reasons some people believe he is worth the stupid amounts of money we are paying him. Not just for on field presence but by adding so much off field revenue such as guernsey sales

I know its off topic but the buddy thread is closed. Was thinkinh today how proffessional our club is. Buddy is arguably the highest profile athlete in australian sport and is battling his own demons of some descript. The fact that the club has managed to somehow keep a lid on things is quite remarkable. The club managed the rumours in the weeks following buddys withdrawel. Let the storm pass and come through the otber side. The fact that the club has had no leaks what so ever is quite amazing, especially in todays day and age. They have allowed franklin to seek the treatmant he needs and kept the wolves at bay.

Well done

Well said mate. Felt this probably belonged here

Yer all good wasnt sure where to post.

Its a fact that has gone widely unrecognised in the media. The swans could not have handled this situation any better. With all of our injury worries, the club could have been forgiven if they tried to push buddy to play. They wrote him off for the year when we were in the most need for him and put the player above the club which is great to see.

Couldnt be prouder to be a member of this great club

Not to mention the actual signing of the man himself still to this day it was astonishing how not a SINGLE leak throughout 2013 that Franklin was Swans bound.

Only Tony Sheanan started to query the potential of Franklin to Swans and even then so was only a few weeks before trade week not to mention everyone laughed at his "rumors"

It has been recognised by a lot of the Vic media, us and Geelong always get praised for being well run clubs

Jesinta apparently seeking legal advice over a Daily Terror article about why she and Buddy should postpone their wedding, which implied that they shouldn't get married because of his illness. Hope she sues the pants off them.
