Buddy's contract killing Sydney's depth?

Okay, so when you said recruiters you actually meant a poster on an Internet forum and a newspaper article that doesn't agree with what you said?

Perris might not even be the best rookie pick up - would love to see where he sits against Heatherley and Tatapu 5-6 years from now.

And where in your own deluded inflated mind would you have him go in the draft? All I know is if I could go first round and make 100k plus as a minimum or sign on as a rookie for 53k, I'm going in the draft.
Okay, so when you said most recruiters had him going around pick thirty you were just making it up.

My guess is the speculation around Perris being a top five pick may have arisen (at least in part) from him
a) Winning the scholarship at 14
b) Winning the AIS-AFL Academy Cameron Ling medal in 2012
c) Roos was willing to start a fight with Sydney over him
d) eddie's sooking
e) elite endurance (is keeping up with hannebery, jack, & rampe this preseason)
and most importantly
f) Winning the AIS-AFL Academy Ben Mitchell Award
(drawn with Josh Kelly, who was 2013's pick 2. So really a pick 1 in a normal draft without an anomaly like Boyd)

All this after a knee-recon in 2012....

Add to that...
What you are getting with Perris is a very selfless and switched on player, who was awarded top votes in competitiveness, patience, loyalty, sacrifice, respect, hard work, professionalism, desire and determination categories. Perris is clearly a great leader and motivator, and his determination is demonstrated by his recovery and return this year from a knee reconstruction as a bottom-ager. Perris has come back from the devastating knee injury and had a fantastic season, winning All-Australian selection and the NSW/ACT MVP.

...sounds like a Sydney player to me.

Who knows where he would have been drafted, but I think it is safe to say not being a part of the draft has meant he hasnt really been talked about.

That said, if Sydney gave him a scholarship at 14, invested years of time and money into him, and have let him train with the main group since 2011, something tells me they deserve to have him, as any team who did the same would.

I wonder how the knee-recon affected that top 20 number...

We'll have to agree to disagree, cheers for the input.

What are we agreeing to disagree on, it's not my info, it's from the draft "experts" at fox footy. Are you agreeing to disagree with anyone that doesn't agree with your unfounded opinion ? I have never seen him talked up as a top 5 draft pick, that doesn't mean he won't be a very good player, hell, even if he was (and he wasn't) but if he was, it doesn't guarantee anything.

Lol

Well i'm sorry if all my googling only leads to speculation he might have gone as high as 20...

Congrats on your number 1 draft pick (I'm sure you consider Jack Martin & Jesse Hogan anomalies as well)

Never said he would go 1, I said Josh Kelly would have, who Perris drew with in the most respected award in the AIS-AFL Academy.

Not sure why you're sorry, we're all speculating.

Yes some ppl said he might have gone as high as 20, but this follows
1. a knee-recon in 2012, and
2. him never really being available because Sydney already had him wrapped up, so teams/agents/recruiters didnt really pay him much attention. (what was the point?) Same goes for F/S listings like Mitchell, not much attention in the media.

If he was rookie listed to another team I'd be saying the same thing - he's a little underrated.

Any BF armchair recruiters out there know much about him? Would like to hear. chrs

If he was a first round draft pick lock (or advised so by his agent) he would have been in the draft and would have rejected Sydney's rookie list offer. Fact is he could have made more than double of his rookie contract if he went first round. Ask Knightmare he probably knows more about this kid than anyone else on BF.

Not sure about that, he's been with them since he was 14.

cheers for the info though, I've messaged nightmare to see if he knows much more.

Would you take a 50% pay cut?

Would you take a 50% pay cut?

depends on the deal, not to mention what my priorities are, previous arrangements, relationships, family, home state, who paid for my knee-recon, previous contracts, trainers, coaches, team mates, the random role of the dice in the draft.....should I go on?

Well melbourne did try and convince him but he's a sydney boy and we've put a few years of work into him so he pretty much repaid the favour

Jamie, you don't know anything about the scholarship system, the pay rates of the different draft rounds, or how Sydney pays its rookies, just like how you didn't know where recruiters ranked Perris. You're just making s**t up.

You have no clue about hawthorns youth. Lets take hallahan for example, he hasnt played a game your saying he is a spud. But the only reason he hasent is the same reason your mob went out and poached kennedy, we allready have lewis, mitchell, hodge and sewell running though the guts. His time will come and you will eat your words.

Kennedy had actually played a few games, Think you guys are massively overrating his VFL form

Mitch Hallahan hasn't even played a game yet. He won the VFL Brownlow this year. It's stupid to sink the boots into a young player who hasn't even had the chance of breaking into the side considering we have some players who play a similar role like Sewell and Lewis. I think it's smart with what we are doing to Hallahan, by allowing him to develop in the VFL and build on his game, so when the time does come for someone like Sewell to retire, Hallahan will then be ready for senior action. There's a player named Sam Mitchell who also won the VFL Brownlow in 2001 and he's probably the best player to come out of the VFL this decade.

VFL Brownlow lol Steve Clifton and Shane Valenti have won two each and they didn't make it at AFL level

I'm saying that he's one of the most consistent young midfielders in the VFL. Yes, it's a huge step up from the VFL to the AFL, but if Hawthorn felt that Hallahan wasn't up to AFL standard, then we wouldn't have kept him on our list for three years. Let's just & see how this all plays out in 12 months time. Both Hawthorn's midfield and Sydney's depth. :p

The only thing consistent about him is not getting games
