Teams Buffalo Bills - The Stampede

If Incognito can get back to where he was a few years ago he will be a massive upgrade for us, even if he gets 80% there

I'm interested to see what Roman does with the offense after two years of conservative Doug. Gailey had the offense firing pretty well a few years ago but didn't have the defense, last two years its been the reverse, if we could actually get good play in all 3 phases it would be nice

It’s not just Bills players and former players who are hyped up about the coming season.

Their customers are buying in, too.

According to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News, the Bills are close to announcing that they’ve broken their season-ticket sales record.

The old mark of 57,132 was set in 1992, back when the team was good.

Interest has waned in recent years — as a 15-year streak of not going to the playoffs has been known to diminish fan enthusiasm.

But with Ryan whipping the crowd into a frenzy, Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas predicting a playoff berth and a rush of big-ticket acquisitions this offseason, there’s optimism in Western New York, such that there hasn’t been in years.

All this has been done without a quarterback of note, which makes us wonder how long it will last.

Tickets for colts, giants and New England games sold out! Also three others close to sold out! Doesn't leave too many left...things are going to be crazy at orchard park this year! Oh to be there in 100 odd days!

I'm a distant fan of Rex Ryan.. like the way he goes about things. He has managed to take down the Pats in the play-offs not once but twice!! Look for the Rex Ryan Bills to take out the division as the Patriots era of dominance is set to expire. Timing is everything with the Brady suspension, LB issues and the new boss in town ready to create a stir.

There is definitely a differnt vibe this offseason, new owners and new coach, things are not being done the same old Bills way. Hopefully that translates into play offs.

QB and Oline are the big issue and we won't really know how they end up for a while. I'm really hoping the line regression under Marrone and Hackett can be reversed if we can get even half decent line play and safe quarterbacking this team is built to be playing in January

Quick wrap :

The Good: Three of the first four games to be played at home where the opposition will face a cauldron like atmosphere which is more than likely to be SOLD OUT and give the Bills every chance. No road trips to the east coast with just ONE trip as far as Arrowhead in KC. Bills don't fear Arrowhead with three of their last four visits there resulting in WINS and that only loss being an OT heartbreaking loss… (2010) Chism will remember that one for different reasons altogether :D makes me laugh each time I think about it. Last two games at home. Bills guaranteed to be playing in January.

The Bad: Heavyweight teams in the opening fortnight, triple NFC East jaunt late in the season in which two of those being road games. Bills have not been above .500 on the road since 1999. Not many prime time games with just two at this stage scheduled. I think there will be another SUNDAY game squeezed midseason if the 'Fins show some form. Bills have NOT won a prime time game since 2000. (0-10 since).
The mid-season / second half stretch of three road games including two against Divisional rivals which starts a tricky run of five road games within SIX weeks!! That's gonna be brutal. Bills would wanna be 5-3 before that second half road stretch arrives.

The Ugly: If the Bills can't win at least 4 of their first seven games before the bye… it's going to be extremely tough to make the play-offs. Bills haven't been above .500 in inter-conference games since 2004 = Bills haven't won in Philly since 1996 for that matter.
Aside the drought breaking road win at Foxboro in the season finale last season when BB yanked Brady at HT in a dead rubber contest, the Bills last won on the road vs NE in a meaningful game was back in 2000. Also Bills find it hard to overcome the Jets even though they swept them last season for the first time in 7 seasons. Bills face the fresh Titans (off a bye) on the road… bogey team ALERT… haven't rolled the Titans since 2000. Could get ugly if they drop that 'trap game' after a challenging opening month where anything less than two wins will not be acceptable.

Rex Ryan has a less than 50% record of challenges overturned with just 23 of 49 red flags working in his favour.

Final word:
Last season the Bills were 3-5 vs teams with a winning record. This season their schedule comprises of THREE DIVISION WINNERS with 50% of their games against winning teams from 2014. Their record of 9-7 should enable them to push for 11 wins meaning 5-3 record at least vs winning teams from last season and 6-2 vs the others. WIN the division : 60% likely. Winning season: 83%

They finished second in the division, beat all teams in the NFC North, won the home game at Detroit under trying circumstances....but lost to Kansas and Oakland when they shouldn't have.
What are the latest thoughts on our starting qb in season opener? They aren't saying much, other than they are all getting equal reps. With the recent addition of Simms, it's going to be a real contest at the spot. If love to see EJ get the start, and repay the faith they showed in choosing him as the first qb two years ago. With so much additional firepower on offence, all he needs is some time to distribute the ball when needed, and hand it off to a pretty decent running back group! Just don't turn it over and there will be playoffs in the very near future.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer was arrested Sunday morning for battery with intent to cause bodily harm.

He was booked in Panama Beach, Florida at 1:51 a.m. ET and released on bond about an hour later. The incident allegedly followed an altercation with the son of Kromer's neighbor. The Bills released this statement on Sunday morning: "We are aware of the report and in the process of gathering the facts." Kromer served as the Bears' offensive coordinator last season but was fired after publicly criticizing quarterback Jay Cutler.

----------------------------

According to an official press release from the Walton County Sheriff's Office, police were called to the scene early Sunday morning after Bills OL coach Aaron Kromer confronted three boys for their use of beach chairs and threw one of them to the ground.

He allegedly punched one of the boys and threatened to kill his family if he called the police. The report also mentioned that Kromer took a fishing pole and threw it into the water. It's hard to imagine Kromer keeping his job if any of these allegations are true. Kromer has fallen a long way since 2012 when he served as interim coach for the Saints.

According to the Buffalo News, Tyrod Taylor is outplaying E.J. Manuel early in Bills camp.

Manuel went 0-for-5 during a stretch of team drills in Saturday's practice, so it's not exactly stiff competition. Matt Cassel has been as up and down as he was during minicamp and OTAs. While we're not yet betting on Taylor winning the Bills' starting job, it's a much more realistic possibility than was originally imagined. Either way, this passing game is going to be quite poor.

Taylor is scramble happy do that too much and you can't succeed, at this stage him being in the conversation says as much about how terrible Cassell is, Manuel is looking better than Cassell at the moment

At least Sammy looks to be recovered and ready to go

I reckon the Bills should trade for a QB before training camp gets too far along. You cannot go into the season with Taylor, Cassel, and Manuel. Will be a terrible offense, all on McCoy, with defenses stacking 8 and 9 in the box, no fear.

Nobody wants to trade a half decent qb though think its going to be a frustrating year again

A lot of teams will only carry 2 QBs. So a team MIGHT be able to extract a half-decent one from another team. Especially if that same team feels it's in dire need at some other position like DB or whatever that the QB-needy team has to trade away.

Problem is are there any half-decent QBs out there? Barkley at the Eagles. McGloin at the Raiders. That's the kind of 'best available' QB talent out there.

That's the question whaley and Ryan have to ask, could they engineer a trade that would make them better with what's out there by enough to be worth the risk

Imo, you always have to try. But it's become more the norm these days for orgs to hold onto their picks or under-utilized good players rather than make a bold trade. Thinking they can "get by" with QBs like Cassel, Smith, Orton, etc, but failing miserably, their season never given a chance to do any better than 5 or 6 wins with said QBs.

You wonder what is going on when the charges have been dropped but he's copping a 6 week suspension
Athletes and coaches get protected....hence charges dropped. But suspension is team enforcing punishment for the wrong doing. Sometimes the law process won't stick on technicalities, but the 'crime' as such still known to be committed.

Reading an article by local news in buffalo, EJ is coming on well last couple of days of camp. Both he and Taylor currently ahead of cassel who struggles to get it further down the field than 20 yards. Do yourselves a favor and download the official bills app, and check the little button top right that says radio. I listened to every game last year listening to that! It's a local station wgr550 and it's basically non stop bills talk. They do talk a little sabres but mainly bills. It's great. Get all the latest news

Big Ben copped a 4 week suspension from the NFL without a charge being 'laid' (pardon the pun) in the alleged rape allegations back in 2010!!

Bryce Brown appears to have fallen behind fifth-round rookie Karlos Williams on the Bills' tailback depth chart.

Brown has continued to fumble away his opportunities -- literally -- on the practice field, while Williams will be a core special teamer for Buffalo. As will be Anthony Dixon. All of them are behind LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson. Coach Rex Ryan recently called Brown "disappointing, to put it mildly." Brown should be hitting waivers sometime before September begins.

According to ABC Buffalo, Sammy Watkins "can't be covered" in Bills camp.

Per ace beat writer Joe Buscaglia, Watkins has "lit training camp on fire with how well he’s played." Buscaglia reports Watkins has been torching every corner he's faced, and refined his route running. Watkins oozes raw ability, but has quarterback concerns, and was prone to nicks and bruises as a rookie. Watkins enters 2015 on the WR2 borderline, but with the upside for much more.

ABC Buffalo's Joe Buscaglia believes it's "fair" to say E.J. Manuel has been the Bills' third-best quarterback in camp.

Any way you look at it, Manuel has fallen behind Tyrod Taylor in the battle to back up journeyman Matt Cassel. Manuel's raw talent hasn't disappeared, but it has been his rawness that's defined him through two NFL seasons. He's looking unlikely to make starts for Rex Ryan's offense this season, and might not even make the team.

Bills claimed LB IK Enemkpali off waivers from the Jets.

Enemkpali is getting a second chance from former coach Rex Ryan one day after his locker-room brawl with Geno Smith. He's unlikely to face any criminal charges for the incident, but could face penalties under the NFL's personal conduct policy. The Bills have shown a willingness to take a chance on players with off-field baggage this offseason, signing Richie Incognito and Percy Harvin. Enemkpali will compete for a depth role at outside linebacker.
