Obviously not you. I was referring to the Fev, the moron desperately trying to stay relevant.

Could've been both. I kinda pulled a dick move... :thumbsu::D

... but figured he deserved it.

Well at the time we had a killer midfield. If development went well and some handy recruiting we could've picked Talia in 2009 and gone into 2010 with:

Walker, Jamison, Thornton
Russell, Talia, Yarran
Gibbs, Stevens, Murphy
Houlihan, Waite
, Garlett
Kreuzer, Fevola, Betts
Warnock/Jacobs, Judd, Carrazzo
Scotland, Simpson, McLean, Armfield/Robinson/Grigg/Ellard/Browne

Not the worst side. As much as I think Kane Lucas adds value to our side if we just selected Talia and not gone so KPP happy in 2010 we'd have more a chance at a gun side.

The highlighted players were in their prime at 2010 too. A prime age Judd, Stevens, Scotland, Simpson with Murphy and Gibbs the youngsters will be missed. Give me a win though and I'll be trumpeting the look of Thomas, Murphy, Gibbs etc again :p

Would've had to slot someone else in at FF in 2010. Fev pulled his stunt at the casino in 2009 & was shipped off to the Brions.

Suspicious minds in footy: the Malthouse Blues Show

An interesting take on things from our own Teddy Hopkins. I particularly liked the following:

Among my strongest recollections is in the change room preparing for my first game. A revered senior player sat beside me and said: "Whatever you do around here and on the footy field it is for Carlton. Listen to what your coach and captain say and ignore everything else."

The message was simple. Clear. I had no alternative. First, above all else was an allegiance that I now played for Carlton and the guernsey. Next was respect for genuine leadership, followed by being among devoted fellow players and fans; which all tied together to equal success.

This is it in a nutshell. As soon as our players run out onto the field they are representing the Carlton Football Club & everything that goes with that. The jumper, the club's history & its supporters. Any player that doesn't feel up to the challenge need not step on the field.

Shame on you Teddy Hopkins for manufacturing a story out of nothing! How long have you been waiting to use the 'I Am' invitation dig - you know full well the 'Carlton' was a given and leaving it off was something the marketing boys did for effect. As for suggesting we are becoming the Malthouse Blues show - WTF : do you forget who YOUR coach was!

We've run with I am Carlton for ages. The I am is so you can insert your own superlative ... hungry, legend, passionate blah blah blah. It was weak. The Teddy does have a bee in his bonnet about not getting more money for merchandising 1970 GF stuff, despite the fact that every member that signs these things has to get a cut.

Then he has to bring Champion Data into it, which is self serving in itself.

But the best part of that was:

In this context, the Malthouse genius was selling a game plan and team structure that he publicly declared would result in a 10 per cent and more improvement in the team's performance. How the board and media glibly accepted this statistical nonsense is bewildering. But that's part of the problem.

Followed by:

During my time as the founder and head of the statistical company, Champion Data, I visited all clubs for briefing and sales purposes.
The company was started in 1996 and visiting Carlton, I found, it was the stodgiest and least-receptive club in terms of accepting and listening to innovations.

Seems statistics are nonsense unless provided by Champion Data.

That's not his point, the claim of a '10 per cent+ team improvement' is not founded on statistics, it's a baseless claim so there's no contradiction. And he is right on that point, though I am not sure I believe Malthouse ever publicly declared this.

Yeah, I realise his point but the fact that he tries to plug Champion Data while having a shot at Carlton and Malthouse stands out as being self serving. I'm a bit of a stats man myself but it seems funny seeing somebody say something is statistical nonsense, when all statistics can be nonsense when selectively applied.

Then again, saying you are going to improve by 10% is not even a statistic, it's an aim. Like you, I don't recall anybody even saying this at the club.

I really think he's promoted the fact that he is Champion Data, by inserting it into a contrived article he knew is topical at the moment.

Don't you mean the Harris era?
No, definitely the Elliott era:
"I found, it was the stodgiest and least-receptive club in terms of accepting and listening to innovations. The club had endured the John Elliot horror show and the fallout and suspicion was palpable."

There is little doubt that Elliott thought he was the only one capable of being innovative & that any ideas which weren't his own were treated with contempt.

On the Henderson trade.

Still bitter. :D

Pathetic - but so sadly predictable - from Fev. If Hendo retired right now I would still take that trade. Fev played about 20-30 more games, and negated any positives from that with his off-field behaviour anyway.

Ah yes, that reference.
Sorry, I confused myself - thinking of when Hopkins was playing.

Ted certainly has no love for MM. He even seems to harbour a grudge against the club for the fact that they weren't very cooperative back in 1996. Attributing this to the "JE horror show" is not very accurate, since in 1996, we had just won a flag, and the full "horror" that was to be associated with the Elliott administration was still a number of years from becoming manifest.
