gold Coast have been vocal declaring dixon has buggered ankles that will only ever let him play 15 games a season , and that surgery can't fix them...

That doesn't sound like the words of a team that is gonna ask the world in return

Surely there is a specialist that can assist o_O

It's not a joint problem, it's a connective tissue problem. He has atrophied muscle and weakened ligaments in his ankle that have, over time, caused a massive weakness overall. That's why he rolls it every week. 100kg jumping on an angle is difficult enough, let alone for a bloke who has had dodgy ankle for the past fifteen years. He's tried multiple times to get something done about the issues, but there's currently no surgery with guaranteed results that will prolong his career.

I still wonder why he doesn't just wear hightop footy boots, but I guess that would impact on his kicking.

Sounds to me like they're trying to put off potential suitors.

That wouldn't work

Keith Thomas " hey hinkley , scratch dixon off your list , I just heard gc say in a press conference his ankles are buggered for good"

Any team will look into it themselves , not too mention the players agent would set anything that wasn't true straight immediately in a phone call..

Only reason I can see for the gc camp to come out and say that is to temper fan expectations about losing dixon. We can already see it has started to sway the posters here. Check the gc board to see a bunch of posters already claiming that it is best to move him on as he cant stay on the park. So if he leaves it's not a story of a player walking out on a club, gc are turning it into a story of them moving a player on.

This sounds about right.

Charlie is a huge icon on the Gold Coast. Loved by all, and has been there since the very beginning. I'd say the club knows (or at least thinks) that he's going to leave, so they're trying to soften the blow. There would be huge backlash from fans if the Suns 'allowed' Dixon to leave, so I suppose this is their way to protecting their image.

Really? o_O

Would the normal person on the street even know who he was?

So Lions say no..
Port can't afford him at the moment.

Where is he going? Dockers?

It's an interesting question, the Dockers need a key forward, I know the Hawks were right into him a few years back, I wouldn't be surprised if this turned into another Buddy type "what the" trade. I just hope he finds a good club and that we are compensated accordingly.

Breust - Roughead - Puopolo
Gunston - Dixon - Rioli

I bloody well hope not!

I disagree, he is a hulking forward and a beautiful kick for goal. if his ankle holds up he would be the dominate bigman on the league. and we all know people pay for the power forwards
I think the ankle is my main concern why I wouldn't trade a top 10 pick for him if he can get that right he would be a huge asset to any club.

I understand your concern

There was so many teams frothing over Charlie a few weeks ago but now they have had a good look some are backing off, personally I think his up side is so big he would be worth the risk but I guess we will see what happens in the off season.

Best case for us is he stays 1 more year gets the ankle right, kicks 60+ and then goes as a RFA and we get band 1 compo and then Peter Wright takes his place
