Commonwealth Budget 2015

Dunno about that. I think Abbott will win the next election while had the previous budget measures been replicated he would surely have lost (which is a great shame and shows the age of entitlement has a long way to go). Even the prevailing criticism of the left leaning BF crowd is not the furious cries of "unfairness" following last years budget.. instead the whinge is that its a "political" budget because its not nasty enough. One of the posters above is valiantly trying to stir up controversy over changes to the PPL, but the average man on the street is happy for public servants to be treated the same as everyone else, aren't automatically entitled to double dip their employer (govt) and taxpayers. Good luck pushing that barrow.
The 2014 Budget was a shocker, something acknowledge by even right wing media outlets.

This budget is short on everything, if it was an election year I might be able to understand, but it isn't. This will mean that come next year we will have a government handing down a third budget and have achieved absolutely nothing with any of them. If you try and play a safe budget you will lose.

Abbott has bigger problem and what is going to kill him come the next election is he will have no record that he can fall back on. 3 years of government and achieved nothing is not something that the electorate will accept. Currently polls are still trending at 47-53 which means a massive loss and that hasn't appeared to of changed since this time last year.

Carbon tax, mining tax, boats. They've done eveything they said they would, a few three word slogans aside. Their problem is their litany of lies, inconsistent message, and treating the voters like fools. Hence much of the current narrative is based around, yeah, we're s**t, but get a load of the other mob.

And if the ALP gets back in, it will be Krudd mark2. The human trafficking will be back in business, the carbon con will be front and center and the mining tax will raise it's ugly head even though iron prices are rock bottom.

Do you apply critical reasoning to what you hear from vested interest news sources or do you just believe anything they say?

So tell me, what will be different with the ALP next time around. No boats? no carbon con? no mining tax?
Spare me the bullshit.
lol if you really think the boats have stopped you are kidding yourself. This "carbon con" you speak of is pretty legit - only a few nufties are denying the existence of global climate change these days. As for the mining tax - have a look at how it's been applied in some of the Nordic states - it was very successful at raising government revenue that is in turn spent on infrastructure and that evil stuff welfare to provide some of the greatest living standards in the world.

Live in your LNP spin world as much as you want - just know it isn't reality.
(for the record I'm shitty with the ALP as well)

Just thought I'd share some knowledge for all those that think a mining tax is bad

The ALP got the boot because the voting public didn't like Krudd/ Gilliar/ human trafficking/ carbon con/ mining tax.
The voting public will realize all these things will back on the agenda with the back stabbing shifty shorten.
The loopy left, ALP/ Greens supporters love it but most know it will be same ol, same ol.

And those in the centre who want the Australia to actually thrive in the future will be screwed over by both these parties playing politics and most of the population who are too thick or stubborn to see through both sides rhetoric.

Wake up to yourself - just because the news doesn't show you boats doesn't mean they have stopped. You have one small point in that the navy is turning the boats around, but what happens once they turn them around? Do you really think these people stop trying? It is going to get to the point (and it's already starting) where the waters to the north are going to be filled with people trying time and again to get in - and when those boats start sinking (like is starting to happen) it becomes a humanitarian disaster that we will be forced to become involved in. Currently the job is falling to Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia and eventually those boats will be sinking on our door step. Just because Abbott/LNP choose to ignore something doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

What's next from you - questioning me on climate change science?

Politically, the budget was very good. For the country, not as good. Except for the small business measures, long over due and should be expanded upon. Stuff like this helps avoid recessions/significant contractions, small business must have incentives to remain in/join the market to provide jobs, growth, income etc.

Yes but that doesnt suit nufties like Hookey. Why use the nations wealth to benefit the whole society into the future when you can allow a few solid citizens, who kindly fund the LNP, to become billionaires.o_O
It is called Company Tax and Royalties. You do know that most mining enterprises go bust, don't you?
