Match Review Vs The Roys

After a great start to the season this week was always going to be a danger game. The young, brash Warriors against the laconic old stagers from The Roys. Confidence was understandably high in the lead up but from the first bounce it was clear the boys from Brunswick Street had come to play.

In wet conditions, The Roys kicked the first four goals of the game - from four different players - and a late goal to invinciBlues was the only score for The Warriors for the quarter. The Roys then kicked another one to take a very handy 25 point lead into the first change.

The second term continued the misery for Warrior fans when Dicky Fitzwell and Fred kicked three goals between them to extend the lead to 44 points and the Warriors were in deep trouble. But a goal to Aussie Rocker and then two from deathevocation saw the lead cut to 28 points at the half and the Warriors were within reach.

The third term was where the Warriors made their move. Despite TheBrownDog kicking the first, the Warriors then had the next 8 scoring shot to cut the lead to just 11 points, however they blew several chances to punish The Roys by kicking 5 behinds and when Fred kicked truly in time on, the lead was back out to 17 points and The Roys steadied.

If the third term was The Warriors, then the last term was all The Roys. Fred kicked his fifth, BOG fitzroybulldog kicked his first and, despite a rally midway through the term, The Warriors never really threatened and Volta kicked the last goal of the game to see the Roys home by 27 points. A disappointing result but one that might give the Warriors the kick in the pants they need.
