Getting a bit jittery for my debut, when does the siren sound for the first quarter?

Usually anywhere between now and 9 mate

Great win to the Warriors, with an excellent debut from El Dubya :thumbsu:

At 4-1, I can feel an over the top, self fellating thread coming on this week...

Neither having much reason to brag, El Dubya had the better of Schulzenfest. - 0m from 3 to 3.

Dont know what you did in those 3minutes, but thats when he got dragged off. Bit of behind the play action eh? :D
I'm a bigger sniper than Leigh Matthews.

At 4-1....

The lid is almost ready to come..............off.

Round 5: Match Review Vs Alberton Swamprats

After last weeks loss to The Roys, it was important the Warriors bounced back this week to make sure the early season form was capitalised on. A win here would keep us ahead of many but a loss would see us fall back amongst the chasing pack. The Swampies certainly had the ability and they hadn't lost at home this season, so it wasn't going to be easy.

The club welcomed latest recruit, El Dubya, to the side and in warm conditions the match got underway.

The first quarter was a tight affair, with both sides holding sway at different points. The Warriors controlled the early part of the first quarter with two goals to eaglesfan99 but a late burst of four goals to the Swamprats saw them take a handy 18 point lead into the first change.

Quarter Time
Alberton Swamprats 5.1.31
Coney Island Warriors 2.1.13

The second term was excellent from a Warrior perspective as the boys fought hard to get back into the game. Goals to zackah, oogac and invinciBlues early on cut the margin to just 5 points but two goals to the Swampies extended it back out to 17 points halfway through the term. It was then that the Warriors again dug deep and dominated the latter part of the second quarter. Inaccuracy was an issue but with two goals to Stronzo and a controversial one to deathevocation after the siren saw the Warriors go into half time in front.

Half Time
Alberton Swamprats 8.2.50
Coney Island Warriors 8.4.52

If the second quarter was good, then the third was excellent as the Warriors played arguably their best footy for the season. Goals to Stronzo, deathevocation and Lord_Flashheart saw the lead skip out to 25 points nine minutes into the quarter and despite some lacklustre kicking for goal, the Warriors fought the quarter out well and went into the final change 29 points in front.

Three Quarter Time
Alberton Swamprats 10.3.63
Coney Island Warriors 13.14.92

The final term started with the Swamprats throwing everything at the Warriors to get back into the game. However both their goals were answered by thetradesman and oogac and when Stronzo kicked his fourth at the fourteen minute mark to extend the lead to 33 points, the game was all but over. InvinciBlues kicked the last 3 Warriors goals to take home a bagful and the Warriors ran out winners by 46 points. The pleasing aspect, apart from the scoreline, was the efforts in defense - with two players from the Swamprats failing to register a stat. The only forward to give us trouble was MannumPower who kicked 4 goals from four possessions but on the whole, the Warriors defense, led by Sydney Bloods, candiehappy, Reginald Perrin and debutante El Dubya were all sensational.

Final Scores
Alberton Swamprats 13.5.83
Coney Island Warriors 19.15.129

Goals:
invinciBlues - 5; Stronzo - 4; deathevocation - 3; oogac, eaglesfan99 - 2; Lord_Flashheart, thetradesman, zackah - 1

Best:
Lord_Flashheart, zackah, BigJoeD, eaglesfan99, Frankston Rover, inviciBlues, Stronzo

Another great effort by everyone. Again, a big thanks to those who posted during the week and last night during the game. We are currently top of the ladder, which is amazing and has surpassed all my expectations heading into the season.

Next week we take on the East Side Hawks at Waverley Park in the Match of the Round. The Hawks are a institution in the Sweet FA and are a great side, so it promises to be a cracking game. Well done again everyone and let's keep the juggernaught rolling on.

Go the Warriors!
