Round 1 Match Review vs Geelong Wolves

Round 1 of the new season saw the Warriors at home in an opening weekend showdown with the new look Geelong Wolves. After an 'interesting' match thread consisting of sci-fi debate, unimaginative memes and a liberal dose of testicular moisturisation, both clubs were looking to start their season with a bang come Sunday afternoon.

In a hotly contested opening it was the visitors that started the better of the two sides, peppering the goals and kicking 14 points clear at the 6 minute mark of the quarter. With debutant Chappyuk feeling the wrath of Warriors coach brad Hardie and benched early in the quarter the home side rallied despite the incompetent coaching, eventually drawing level with the Wolves at the quarter time siren.

The armwrestle continued in the second quarter, the Warriors onball brigade battling hard to gain the midfield ascendency. With attacking options DapperJong, Benwah83 and Packedlunch looking lively up forward it was the Warriors who were looking the stronger of the two teams, and when spearhead Reginals Perrin booted his third major of the half it was the Warriors that took a seven point buffer into the long break.

The Wolves came out after halftime determined to put the clamps on the Warrior engine room, upping their workrate and challenging the home side around the stoppages. With Wooshette giving her midfielders Freofalcon, toxic and zackah first use of the qooty the home side were wasteful in front of the big sticks, the Wolves booting 3 goals to 1 for the quarter to take a slender 2 point advantage into the final change.

With the match up for grabs it was the Wolves that capitalised on their early chances, extending their lead to 20 points at the 12 minute mark. With the match slipping away it was SweetFA icon boncer34 that led a late Warrior rally, the home side drawing within 2 points with only minutes to play, until a late goal from the Wolves iced the game for the visitors in a match that proved to be a high quality exhibition of qooty.

With two player name errors and a highly controversial goal after the siren to the Wolves it is clear this will be yet another season of ongoing efforts from the amateurish SFA admin to ensure the Warriors are robbed and cheated at every possible opportunity

Despite this carriage of injustice The Warriors have proven once again to be a posting force to be reckoned with, dominating the Wolves in what was a rather bland effort on their behalf at nerd “banter”. An impressive 15 posters from the Orange, White & Black with 9 players contributing over 10 posts and a solid debut from some of the rookies. Freofalcon, BigJoeD_ & toxic leading the stats after round 1.

I’m not up to speed with the list changes at the Bandits who are our opponents for Round 2, but if last season is anything to go by they are a bunch of flogs who can expect to give a bit, but are still miles behind us.

I encourage everyone to get involved and troll your hardest – remember, we are not here to be liked
