AN English club all-rounder has made history by scoring 350 in a one day game.
Liam Livingstone’s stunning innings was the centrepiece of Nantwich’s mammoth 7-579 for in just 45 overs during their National Club Championship clash at home to fellow northwest side Caldy.
Livingstone’s runs came from just 138 balls, including 34 fours and 27 sixes. “Had worse days! Thanks for all the messages,” Livingstone, 21, said on Twitter. His astonishing assault is believed to be the the highest recorded individual in any form of one-day match, surpassing the 334 not out made by the then 15-year-old Nikhilesh Surendran in an Indian school fixture in Hyderabad in 2008.
Three of Caldy’s bowlers, who play in the Liverpool and District competition, long regarded as one of England’s leading club leagues, conceded in excess of 100 runs.
Overwhelmed by what had happened to them in the field, Caldy collapsed to 79 all out as Nantwich won by a scarcely credible 500 runs.
Livingstone, yet to make his first-class debut, endeared himself to Lancashire fans by finishing last season with 204 in the Roses 2nd XI clash against arch-rivals Yorkshire.

Carnage in the bowling figures.......lol. That's impressive even allowing for some of the small grounds there.

18 wickets last night at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown Barbados last night/this morning in day 2 of 3rd test.

Poms started at 7/240 (Cook was last man out on day 1 for 105) - were bowled out for 257, then Anderson ran thru the top order of Windies had first 3 wickets and had Windies 3/21 and were all out for 189. but poms were 5/39 at stumps.

And the Poms went on to lose to the 'mediocre' West Indians in the Third Test and the series is tied 1-1. Much lulz.

Chuck Berry on MMM this morning saying Andrew Strauss is going to be on the ECB of directors & will be picking Justin Langer over Dizzy as the new England coach.

It'd be a good pick for them but it's sad they have to poach one of our best coaching prospects just to get some Aussie ethos into their mediocre soft Pom cricketers, years back they'd think there were too good to pick an Australian to rebuild their culture.

WORLD cricket’s walking ego Kevin Pietersen has been hit by the karma bus and reportedly told he will never play for England again.
The dramatic news comes only two months before the Ashes and as Pietersen scored a career-best 326 not out for Surrey against Leicestershire.
PIETERSEN HITS UNBEATEN 326 ... TO NO AVAIL
England’s media are reporting new England director Andrew Strauss has told Pietersen his dreams of playing for England again are over.
The decision highlights the depth of ill-feeling towards Pietersen by the England Cricket hierarchy after the maverick batsman tipped a bucket on them when he was sacked after the 2013-14 Ashes.
It is also a case of what comes around goes around — after Pietersen once called his former teammate Strauss an offensive term in text messages sent to rival South African players in 2012.
The South African-born Pietersen even suggested to his opponents to bowl round the wicket to the struggling Strauss.
The Pietersen move will divide English cricket again with many feeling it is right for him to remain in the wilderness while others felt he could help the struggling England team.
The reaction from former England players was immediate with former captain Andy Flintoff tweeting: ‘’Wow! On one hand I respect Strauss for making a ballsy decision on KP however got to think he’s made a very bad one.’’
Another former England captain Michael Vaughan tweeted: ‘’Just pick your best available players and let’s stop complicating sport.’’
The bottom line is that England decided it could not tolerate Pietersen’s selfish and divisive nature and decided to push on to the Ashes and beyond without him.
At age 34, Pietersen’s triple century may be his last first-class innings as he only returned to county cricket to try to elbow his way back into the England side.
Strauss is due to front the media in England tonight (Australian time) to elaborate on the reasons for the decision.

They really don't care too much for winning those Poms. I can't imagine how Cook can lose the last Ashes 5-0 and still have his job as captain of England; but he comes from 'the right sort of family' as an ECB Chairman put it.

Seriously, they'd rather lose 5-0 then feel obligated to an outsider and a difficult personality like Pieterson. I'll never understand the English.

 Check out these overnight comments from Andrew Strauss:

From ESPN Cricinfo:

Speaking at Lord's, England's newly-appointed director of cricket Andrew Strauss cited a "massive trust issue" between the two as the reason for Kevin Pietersen's continued banishment, confirming the batsman was "not part of our plans" for the forthcoming Ashes.

"The first thing to say is now's the time for some really honest and open conversation about Kevin Pietersen," Strauss told Sky Sports. "No one has ever doubted Kevin Pietersen's ability as a player. He has been a phenomenal player for England over a long period of time. His record stacks up to anyone in England cricket, and he should be very proud of that. But over months and years, the trust between himself and the ECB has eroded."
"Because of that, we've told him it's not in the best short-term interests of the side for him to be in the team. I've let him know he's not part of our plans for the future, and I can't give him any guarantees beyond that ... but he's not banned from the side, no one knows what's going to happen in the future."
"There are not many people who know more about one-day cricket than Kevin Pietersen, he's got a lot to offer that conversation," Strauss said. "He's played in T20 competitions all round the world, he knows a lot about one day cricket, and I want to use as many people, as many different viewpoints as possible to formulate the right strategy.
"Maybe part of that would have been the start of rebuilding trust. Maybe that's the starting point, to get involved in that capacity and see how we go. At the moment he doesn't feel that he can take up that position. I understand that. I hope over time he can reconsider."

So KP isn't part of their Test team plans, but Strauss wants to utilise his expertise in the shorter forms of the game......#pommylogic

When you take out all of Steve Waughs NOT OUTS his average is similar to Marks - do the sums

Why are we taking out his not outs? What possible point does that make?

Are you arguing that Steve Waugh played for his average? He played to win.
