Crown Melbourne Part 4

Went down to the poker room today for a gander. It does look pretty ordinary with those BJ tables near the screen. If you're going to have them in there, at least put them where they're not such a huge obstruction.

The other thing that looks terrible is all the BJ tables just as you enter the poker room. Clogs up the entrance area, with no obvious path to the main desk.

Is it no phones "on the table", "at the table", or "above the table"?

Can you sit at the table and use your phone as long as it doesn't touch the table?
Can you sit at the table and use your phone as long as it is below the plane of the table? ie. in your lap
Or are you not allowed to be sitting at the table and use your phone?

I've had the rule confirmed. It is casino-wide. Its primary motive is game integrity. You can still use your phone at the table. You fold, you are free to grab your phone and use it. Don't hold up the game. Don't use it when you are in a hand.

In essence, not a huge change to the status quo.

Blow job tables seem like a great idea to me! ;)

That rule is really going to cheese me as I have a habit of looking at my phone until cards are dealt the sitting it down in front of me while the hand is played, going to be annoying having to pocket it all the time

I'm not sure you will have to. Should be able to place it on the armrest, but it might depend on the dealer.

Don't give them a reason to pull you up. Don't slow down the game.

I do this too and confirm I was pulled up by the floor twice in a 2hr session. It's very annoying and does affect the enjoyment of the game (was betting on horse racing on my phone at the time). I think the small tables will be at a premium now, just for resting electronic devices.

As a side note, I ran kk into aa for a full stack and still managed a $1k profit in 2hrs so it wasn't too bad all things considered.

Played last night. Got told off for resting my phone, face down, on the arm rest. I insisted a supervisor clarify the rule. Of course, different dealers will be less stringent, but no phones on the table or table ledge. Yet to be told off for using my phone over the table with my arms resting on the table ledge.

And saw something for the first time. Player sits out for ages, another guy sits down in that seat. I'm confused. Can't recall what 1st guy looked like, thought he had left chips on the table (and hadn't been picked up), then thought maybe he had picked up and left. Original guy comes back after forever and scene ensues. New guy, bit off his head, had sat down and played with other guy's $150. Busted that and then a couple more buy-ins. Guy next to him was also drunk and obnoxious, and spills his drink just at the perfect time. We had to change tables. They went to the camera, new guy had to pay other guy $150.

Hand from this morning. EP raises to 7, BTN raises to 24, blinds call, EP calls.

Flop: [9:hearts: 8:hearts: 4:clubs:]
checks to BTN who bets 70, only the SB calls

Turn: [9:hearts: 8:hearts: 4:clubs:] [5:diamonds:]
SB checks, BTN bets 250, SB tanks, asks for time, calls

River: [9:hearts: 8:hearts: 4:clubs:] [5:diamonds:] [5:hearts:]
SB bets 200 all-in, BTN calls

SB: A:hearts:Q:hearts: ... couldn't fold the turn?
BTN: 7:hearts:6:hearts: ... justice

**** I was mighty pissed this morning. Lucky if I played for 45 minutes before I stormed out.

2nd hand, MP, I raise 15 with T9hh, one caller.
I flop a flush, I bet he folds. Oh well, HU with a strong hand you would usually expect that you'll just take it down. Sometimes I'll check there, this time I decided to continue.

Soon after, I raise to 15 with JTdd, one caller.
Flop 9x8d7x, he donks pot, I min raise, he calls. Turn 9d, he checks, I shove 120, he calls. Of course he hit his 4-outer, of course I miss my 2-outer. Not happy, but one way or another I tend to lose my 1st BI early. It was with Aces the other day on a T63ss flop, 77 shoves $45, 54 calls for OESD (max 8 outs, prob less with FD out), I shove 220, he tanks, calls, and of course turns it. He was 12% and called about 170 into a pot of about the same size. I just can't play as good as people like that. I should have asked him for lessons.

Last hand, I raise to 26 with AKdd, one caller who mentions 'bad beat city'.
Flop A23hh, he checks, I shove 170 into pot of 60. HE INSTA-CALLS. I stand up assuming I'm already beat.
But he only has Q9hh, but I was already walking as he turned it, and I left swearing like a mofo. I forgot to ask him for lessons too. I swear if I had AKhh I would have slowrolled. You call 170 into 60 with the 3NFD and hit it? You bet I ******* slowroll.

******* sick of it. I know I'm a fish, believe me, I know. I'm an absolutely terrible player, I know it, I accept it. I only play very sporadically online, I don't grind, I don't put in volume. I'm well educated. I'm professionally employed and well paid. I'm too old and lazy to become a good player, that's fine, the day will come sooner or later when I just stop playing altogether. I struggle just to win a buy-in or two these days, and then it's only to break even from previous losses. I have my limits though, rarely do I put myself in a position to lose more than 2 buy-ins, and 3 is my absolute limit.

Oh well, s**t happens, I suck. Rant over.

Not sure why the $550 6max is at 12:30pm Wednesday while the 1k is Thursday night

Seems the Wednesday one could/should easily be a 6:10 start, might have to miss it

Went in tonight and played the 200 accum

Got 1 outtered in pre KQ<KJ with 2 dead jacks but he found the last one for most of it, next hand I get QQs in the BB, UTG shoves 8bb~, bad/loose player calls, Peter Astridou over shoves, I'm not realllllly sure whats better here but if the bad/loose player was a better player I might have folded, but I have to know hes got a mega wide calling range and Peter knows that as well so his range is wider and includes a bulk of hands I dominate so I go with it

The bad/loose player tankkkkks and eventually calls it off, he has 88s (absurdly horrible call), Peter has AAs, UTG has AJ, board runs out with an 8 so that guys gonna win the tourney

Was right near first break/rebuy period but I couldnt be bothered, may fire again tomorrow

I was shocked at the number of BJ tables, they take up more space than I thought. We started in the side area/satty room which is horrid. The tables are small and the room is like a morgue, going to suck having to spend more playing time in there because of the changes

In Melbourne played yesterday thoughts

1) damn those bj tables are relatively massive. Im curious if they are still there come AM time

2) satty area sucks for tournaments, its quite a trek from HR section to there

3) they should have made the table priority breaking satty area first, then HR, then tables near bj/screen. I played phase two sat yesterday as well as 550 6max with tables everywhere and it was annoying to track fields etc...

-----

Anyway my day sucked busted 6max 3betting a button open with J5o because I was pretty sure he would never flat with my effective stacksize and he would fold often. He obv flatte, we fflopped J64cc and had to begrudgingly get it in vs QTcc which rivered a flush.

Busted sat 14th with 11 seats because I thought I needed one more blind steal to make seats shoved button with A3 and got called by ATo in sb and flipped nothing. I ran pure before that though so I hardly deserved it.
