Normally yes that's possible but his desire to return home isn't for success it's to appease a wife to be, if his management says don't take him in the PSD he'll just leave in 2 years would the Dees hierarchy still pick him? Brave call, he'll be at Geelong or Adelaide. The crows have more to lose than us, it doesn't matter to us if he goes PSD and doesn't get to us, we're not the one who's lost a great player for zip. If a trade eventuates it won't be the R1 and Motlop pie in the sky type trades given that at that point they hold the risk not us. Maybe a Murdoch or GHS. The R1 pick may be gone anyway.

PD holds the risk if he's desperate to get back to Vic! Mind you if collingwood are prepared to trade for him and Geelong aren't can't see him wanting to do any favors for the cats in two years time

Not necessarily, we could still trade our R1 for Henderson, could still target Selwood all the while Adelaide stew over nothing happening.

Poor PD holding all that risk, that's not nice not having any feelings for what PD wants. Maybe he's told his manager get me someone with zero risk please tell me how this is possible wise one?

Yeah but if Melbourne picked him up he doesn't become a free agent in 2 years time so he won't be just walking out, Melbourne suddenly get good trade value for something that they got for free, I doubt he'll last to our pick anyway but the other Vics aren't that far from Moggs Creek so it wouldn't be a disaster for them.

Honestly if you miss out on Dangerfield and he wants to be at your club that is a massive loss, superstar wants to come to your club and you can't get it across the line? Its the difference of putting you back into contention next year.

.??? What are you on about once you make an offer we are advised to see if we have available cap! 1.2 million is a fair figure for such quality I would pay it. And to say he won't be any good? He's playing bloody good this year for someone that doesn't want to be there!

LOL I was responding to a statement about 'other melbourne clubs' going after him.. Get a clue.

yet it's never happened
Because the player has been worth more as a compo pick(thomas, Higgins) or the contract has been over what the original team was willing to/able to pay(franklin, Betts). This is the first time that a player has been significantly worth more than the compo with a deal that's matchable(if they're only offering the 800k). It's not like free agency has been here for 10 years, it's been 3. Hardy a huge sample size

not

You obviously need to read the rules on RFA your struggling to comprehend the options the AFC have hahaha or are you struggling with it?

I know the rules but the difference is I have a grip on reality.. I'll just add you to the 'told you so' list ready for October.

Hutchy on FC, for what thats worth, said Danger is going to Geelong and the Crows will match any offer. Also said that Adelaide and Geelong are most likely already discussing potential trades for him.

Buddy never actually said he was going to GWS. It was all assumed by a snowball of media speculation. Blind leading the blind.

Has Dangerfield ever actually said he wants to go to Geelong?

I'd love it if we were to be to ones swooping in but for me, Collingwood are being awlfully coy on this.

They are an incredibly juicy proposition, better option than Geelong on the field, off the field and after he leaves the field...

Or the Dogs. Another ripping young squad, and western suburbs means he is closer to Moggs Creek than any other team aside from Cats. Apparently have more cap space than most people think as well..

Would be interesting to see what Geelong will pony up and what Adelaide will accept.

So apparently Motlop is likely out but is he keen on moving to Adelaide?
Would Motlop and Geelongs second be enough? Remembering Geelong have the upper hand.

Dangerfield will get a front loaded contract, Henderson a back ended deal.

Why would Henderson go for that? He could do his knee and then get FA out of it.
Besides Dangerfield will not swap clubs fora 3 year deal.

If you want both you will have to pay big $$$ and that will unwind all the team harmony of players over the last decade accepting pay cuts to play as a group. Would be the beginning of the end.

The beginning of the end was in October 2011 when Ling and Ottens retired.

Do they really have the upper hand? It's up to them to satisfy Adelaide.

Ok so why have an RFA agreement? Why was it put in place did the AFL and ALFPA like the name Restricted or was it put on there to serve a purpose? And if it was placed on there for a purpose(as we know it wasnt there to look pretty) what was the purpose of the restricted part? Once you answer this we may get to the bottom of why the Crows can match and you can probably answer your last sentence!

It is basically a way of the AFL clubs clawing back some leverage from he AFLPA - AFL wanted to appease both the clubs and the players - AFLPA for example want FA at 6 years, so the AFL compromise and say lets make it 7 but leave the RFA part open - Then the AFL sweetens the deal by offering compensation picks - I reckon if their is a s**t-fight over Dangerfield two things will happen - AFLPA will push for a reduced eligibility and the AFL will abolish compensation picks.

You really think we want to roll over and let you have him when more spoils are potentially on the table?

What planet are you living on?

And this kind of post is why the D an T Board is going downhill.

Adelaide will make a prudent decision that will benefit the club in the future.

Adelaide have no reason not to match. It's the entire point of RFA, if the contract is reasonable and the player is worth more than the compensation, a team will match any day of the week and force a trade.

This is a myth - People dont understand the concept that Adelaide has first choice - Dangerfield if he accepts an offer from Geelong has rejected Adelaide's offer.

Its like Carlisle from Essendon - Has been offered a contract, but if he chooses to leave that means he has rejected Essendon's offer.

Just because he's rejected Adelaides offer doesn't mean Adelaide can't match

It will take two first rounders. Geelongs first, and if Motlop wants to go elsewhere or Adelaide dont want him, then Geelong trade him for a first rounder and we get that as well.
Geelong arnt Essendon and havena reputation as fair traders, even if their supporters dont have a clue, and a deal would get done. Danger is more than just a player for Geelong, he is considered the long lost son.

And how will this affect or bother Adelaide as they will not change the rules until after the draft period?
