Toast Daniel Cross retiring

It was bought up in the non-Bulldogs thread but Cross is retiring at the end of the year because Melbourne aren't offering him a new contract. I for one would love to give him a slap on the back and remember how much of a warrior he was throughout his career and how he set the standard on the training track.

Gun bloke and footballer,. Terrible watching him battle away in that team. Tough, courageous and did everything that was asked of him. A true Bulldog through and through.

Him and Gilbs were my two favorites from our 08-10 team. He was a gun. Especially in 2010.

Really underrated mark. Him and Boyd set the clubs standards.

Also Roos' speech name dropping Boyd and Murph was interesting.

Because Boyd and Murph have shown more heart, courage and hardness than the entire melbourne team

Glad to hear. I would have thought he could offer them something on the field ahead of hacks like Matt Jones. Oh well, their youth is pushing up and that is good for them. I hope he has a long career around footy!

Really disappointed we didn't offer him another contract when blokes like Matt Jones and ******* Terlich are contracted for 2016. Pathetic list management.

In the USA teams are able to sign a player to a 1 day contract so that they can retire at their original team, as there is so much player movement amongst teams with free agency.

I wish we could do the same with Daniel Cross.

Great career Crossy, you are one player that could ultimately be satisfied with what you achieved with the ability you had. Brave, non-stop endurance, good overhead, never gave up.

I genuinely hoped he'd retire after leaving us, i didn't want to see him in other colours. Selfish i know but glad now he had those extra couple of years at the Dees
