Menzel timeline if everything goes according to plan from now on (hopeful...)

June 29 - Week of full training.
July 6 - Week of full training.
July 11 - VFL return match.
July 18 - VFL match.
July 25 - VFL match.
August 1 - VFL match.
Geelong said at least a month of VFL before being considered for AFL.
August 8 - Earliest possible AFL return game for Menzel. Round 19 vs Swans on a Saturday night in Geelong.
August 15 - Saturday night vs Hawks at MCG.
August 22 - Saturday night vs Saints at Etihad.
August 28 - Friday night vs Magpies at MCG.
September 5 - Saturday (possibly) vs Crows at Geelong.

Doesn't really matter which team he returns against, he will be sub anyway.
Return match in Geelong would be amazing but depending on how he goes in VFL I am picking Round 21 vs Saints his return game.
A half of footy in VFL return, 3 quarters the week after, then 4 weeks of full VFL matches.

Good luck Menz!
Can't wait to see your return :)

For me it doesn't even matter if he doesn't return to the AFL... I would be stoked if he managed to get a run of games in the VFL and looked to show a bit

Id be so excited to see him play AFL this year but even if his knees hold up I think it will still be a long time before he returns to the AFL side. Im forseeing that getting his knees right is only the halfway mark of his return. Finding form and overcoming mental demons will be the next bit if he makes it. He was my favourite player but im not sure we will be getting the same thing once he is ready. Im having low expectations with the hope ill be pleasantly surprised.

Next weekend...It is happening...His return!

I hope...

I have to say though, if his comeback game was against the Swans, I'd be absolutely stoked for Menz but also myself, as I'll be over for that match!

You'd have thought at the start of the year that 9 games 70 goal was about par for Menzel, anything less will be a set back
