Demetriou blasts Richmond Tigers handling of Jake King

very simple question. What rule or instruction has Jake King broken that is worth getting sacked over?

The answer is none. The club has not banned him from having contact in his personal time with Toby Mitchell given no problems have resulted from it

So effectively utensil wants him banned for not breaking club rules.

Very simple answer is that Kochie was talking about our club, if Richmond are happy with Jakes action all is good and there is nothing to get all upset about.

Jumbo, mate, this is almost a human rights violation. Jake King has done nothing wrong except be a long time mate of a bloke with a chequered background. And a mate from a time before his mate became chequered. It's not a great look but nothing has been done that is remotely worthy of sanction.

SO Koch saying your leadership group would "tear him to shreds" is just a gross "big brother" attack based on what the thought police say is acceptable in todays society. No laws broken, no game into disrepute...no charges laid, no case to answer. But your motor mouth president thinks that he should be torn to shreds?

Jumbo, stop defending the indefensible. This is stupidity. Vlad opened his trap, Koch followed and they both look like idiots.

whats he done? name one fight, drug incident, gambling offence, or even speeding fine he has obtained as a result of this friendship

If King has broken none of the leagues laws, the states laws, or even the commonwealths, what "action" has he performed that allows Port to tear up his contract (if he was on their list)?

Lets just say that Richmond player Billy Blogs continually uses racist terms towards Bachar Houli at training even after being told not to by the club, what action should the club take and what law (if any) has Billy committed?

This is what you dont get - THEY CLUB HAS NOT BANNED HIM. They said it was their preference that he not see him, but they couldnt ban him or force him to stop the friendship. For about the 10th time - the club has confirmed he is not banned from associating with him privately, only at the club

What about Billy Blogs?

also re: your example:

1) the club told Billy to stop (something they havent done with King)

2) in Victoria there is a law against racial vilification (King has broken no laws)

1) You didn't answer the question

2) No offence if it didn't occur in a public place or audible from (that's why I stipulated training - closed that would be)

Where definitely boring everyone else now:oops:

1) yes I did. Billy was told "stop doing this". Jake was told "we would prefer you didn't, but we wont tell you to stop". He was not told to stop, and the club has confirmed this publicly

2) your are massively wrong - training is a work place, racial vilification laws 100% cover the workplace

You didnt answer the question- Who is Billy Blogs?

Good call! Billy Nichols may be up on charges for involvement with a shooting and with the importation of illegal supplements and drugs, but Billy never racially vilified his mates at training (pretty sure he never rocked up to training)

You cant use a hypothetical question in a real life situation. Use the exact example that has taken place.

It is still irrelevant. You cant tell someone to not do anything outside of work outside of illegal activity. You will get your ass sued for wrongful dismissal.
I've seen footy clubs over the years fine players for breaking curfews or getting or the turps when not meant to, I don't believe any laws were broken there!

Looking forward to his next post, he'll probably say the club should have sacked him because "of the vibe"

I am a massive fan of Port, their turn around, and the supporters (they cop a massive amount of s**t from Crows fans and still rock up), but a couple of them give the Norf trio a run for their money (I'm still convinced those three wrote most of Clive Palmers policies)

All things clubs have banned players from doing - and told them so

THE CLUB HAS NOT BANNED KING FROM SEEING MITCHELL - AND THEY HAVE TOLD HIM AND THE PUBLIC THIS

Excellent, nothing story then:thumbsu:

This is a daft comparison to the Jake King "situation" given that the AFL actually DO have laws against villification whereas Kingy hasn't broken ANY laws or ANY contractual arrangements --in fact, Benny Gale made it very clear where Richmond stand and that Kingy hasn't got a case to answer. Demetriou and Koch don't have to like it, they just have to live with it.

But, just in case anybody doubts where the AFL stands on racial and religious abuse:

From the AFL National Vilification and Discrimination Policy:

4.1 Prohibited Conduct
No League Participant or Club Official shall engage in conduct which may reasonably be considered to incite hatred towards, contempt for, ridicule of or discrimination against a person or group of persons on the ground of their:
-- race;
-- religion;
-- gender;
-- colour;
-- sexual preference, orientation or identity; or
-- special ability or disability

At the end of the day this is one of those situations which people are entitled to have an opinion on, but until some actual AFL policy is breached, Richmond can handle it any way they see fit. End of story.
