The role of our military is to do whatever the Americans ask.

That is the price we pay for having American taxpayers foot most of the bill for our national defense.

I would say it is the price to pay, when you need a big brother as you can't defend yourself.

UK and france are no longer in the position to help
Russia and China will have their own issues
So that leaves us with the US

unless we create an alliance with tonga, fiji and samoa. but that is likely to trigger a global arms race.

Those English RAF boys (biggest terrorists in history by casualty count) didn't give a **** about Dresden or Tokyo. The English have no souls as a nation imo - whenever you want to see the worst example of wars/genocide/rape/torture, look at the English.

On 16 March 1945, about 90% of the city full of civilians (and military hospitals) was destroyed in 17 minutes by 225 British Lancaster bombers during a World War II air raid. All of the city's churches, cathedrals, and other monuments were heavily damaged or destroyed. The city center, which dated from medieval times, was totally destroyed in a firestorm in which 5,000 people perished.

History doesn't lie. The British in the 50's held black fellas at gun point, so they could experiment on them after leaving them in the fallout zone of their nuclear tests in SA. The excuse was the Russians knew more about nuclear war than they, had done more tests, new more info and it was in British national interests, they catch up.

Aus join the non aligned movement?

Hhahahahahaaaa.

Not while our government and msm is bought and paid for by the US/Israeli establishment.

Gough learned that the hard way. And that was near forty years ago; things have gotten much worse since.

That is the price we pay for having American taxpayers foot most of the bill for our national defense sold our soul and independence to the USA in the forlorn hope that if we were threatened the seppos will come to our aid.

East Timor says that this line of thinking is deeply flawed

It's not really a forlorn hope, since they actually have come to our aid before (WWII) and we have a formal military alliance that ensures they will do so again.

The price we pay for the protection of the US pacific fleet is that we have to send a token force to whatever war the US is currently involved in. It actually saves us a great deal of money. Our defense expenditure would be incredibly high if we had to defend our massive continent all by ourselves.

Yes they came to our aid, Having Australia in Japanese hands would have had massive implications for the US efforts to re conquer the Philippines. It suited both our interests. They certainly got good value out of us since. Korea, Pine Gap, Vietnam etc etc.
Who are the US protecting us from now anyway?

Asked for assistance with Konfrontasi - refused.
Timor Leste - refused.

There's probably other examples of us being ****ed about by our more powerful allies, can't be bothered looking it up.

As for the ANZUS treaty, it mentions nothing about coming to our aid. It will "consult".

Remember what happened to our special relationship with Great Britain and how that helped agin the Japanese

Crap. The price we may pay for our support of Pax Americana could be extremely expensive, pissing off our regional neighbours and trading partners

Crap. The price we may pay for our support of Pax Americana

You know that Pax Americana literally means "the long-lasting period of relative world peace resulting from American military supremacy"

Who wouldn't support that?

Which America secures in their own interests, not anyone else's.

So? Why wouldn't they?

Because the rest of the world isn't 'America'. And, just in case you think might means right on the inter-national stage, why on the sub-national level are there laws against theft? Rape? Murder? If we're the strongest in our neighbourhoods why aren't we free to take whatever we want from those too weak to oppose us?

As above, so below.
