Over on the Bombers board they are welcoming Hird back with open arms. In the Carlisle thread they can not believe clubs are allowed to approach contracted players encouraging them to walk under the 'breach of contract clause'. It will rip the heart out of our club they say. Talk about a contradiction! It is Hird who is responsible for this scenario playing out in the first place.

If the club had come out initially and said we stuffed up and we are going to do everything in the interests of the players AND actually followed through on that then maybe some of them wouldn't think twice about remaining at bomber land. Instead they have chosen a club first approach and not sought to look after the players interests. Chief among the obvious actions is to bring back Hird. Only themselves to blame.

Well, Goddard's one of the only clean players.

Let's not forget, EFC got themselves into this situtation, no one else. And the players will only become available if EFC has breached its duty of care. The only reason EFC should be worried is if they know they are not tickety boo on that score.

As the player agent said (can't recall his name) an opportunity like this to grab players without conceding draft picks, etc., only comes once in a lifetime. It would be absolutely stupid for other teams not to be circling the cheater's wagons. Of course, emptor caveat applies, but given the Cronulla sharks effective three game ban it could still be worth the risk.

It says a lot that he went on record as injecting himself with banned drugs as coach, yet none of his fans can put 2 and 2 together despite his coincidental mate Charter helping him through the latter part of his careeer and then supplying Dank with 'supplements'.

Injecting yourself is not something you do on a whim.

Edit: I should clarify, I find it an amazing coincidence that Hird was getting "nutritional" advice from a known steroid abuser in his playing days, and he then goes on to inject himself as a coach....yet Bomber fans would have you believe that just because he was willing to jab himself doesn't mean he had any knowledge of injections or a history of drug use at all.

The only believable reason for injecting yourself with banned substances as a coach is you are trying to test a masking agent to see if you can beat the tests.

If this happened at hawthorn and we kept our coach on after all this I would quit the club because it would not be something I want to be a part of. Essendon fans have brought this on themselves. Accepting this crap from their club has enabled Hird to return.
