Pretty obvious who they're referring to, AFL would be doing all it can to stop the story ever getting out though.
This board alone has several players it could easily apply to, but yes agree with that second part. If it was drink driving or gambling they would be all over it. Drugs? Everyone shut the hell up

Recent car accident, rumors of substance abuse, rumors of a huge coverup, story about absence from the game with very little information...
Fair amount of time passed between the accident and the course....they must be pretty popular.

So the Herald Sun obviously know who it is... so why the "Whisper"???

Are they trying to get someone else to print it so then they can cover the story???

What is this veil of confidentiality they talk about? Are they talking about the laws that govern them... or someone that has paid them off?

Herald Sun look stupid for printing that... weak and gutless. Bit like asking mum and dad where the ice cream went, when you know full well it was your sister that ate the lot behind their backs.

Same as the rumour file cept the journos can't get anyone to talk. If there's no outright proof then this is how they can get a story out there without risking a defamation case

It is like a race, the sooner the Herald Sun can out him, the sooner he can be shamed, then they can pretend to defend him. Next.

For the people suggesting Buddy, you'd think New Idea or some such trash would have leaked it by now because of the Jacinta connection. They can't resist gossip.

So it might be someone else. For example, which club presidents have been in the news this week making distracting statements? Any players on their lists who have histories/rumours of drug issues?

Actually its a great way to give a middle finger to the AFL. Make the coverup the story.
