Dusty and Jack are our only x-factor players at the moment. They make extraordinary things happen by their mere presence near the ball. As much as we need fast running foot soldiers who will carry out the team plan like clockwork, these kind of guys take us to the next level. We could do with one more of them in the form of a small forward.

By the time the 4th-5th years roll around the cap will be significantly higher than it is now. $700k wouldn't be an over the top wage to pay for Dusty by then.

Doubt that will eventuate. Not when we have Brandon Ellis, Nick Vlastuin and Ben Lennon in the wings all rated as future captaincy material. Dusty is going to be an on field leader though, in terms of leading by example on the field. Leave the political stuff and media commitments to those who are more adept at it.
