Maybe incoherant but more right than you - what was bailleus excuse.

Did nothing - funding was available

Provide the link to show this.

and the then alp commonwaelth govt were exasperated than nothing was being requested

You seem adament about this.

So provide the link to demonstrate the Labor commonwealth government was wanting to fund east-west link.

Why do you doubt this Guru?

Under Rudd/Gillard they promised to fund replacement of land vehicles for the army, ships for the navy , planes for the airforce, Ndis startup, 5 years of gonski in education, increased health spending none of which was funded. What's an extra few billion for a metro that they didn't have ?

The money which didnt come to victoria went to other states

Is comprehension lacking in right wing posters ?

Anyway the broad discussion is competence in infrastructure renewal, including being too political.

Hard line vies such as whether money should be spent at all probably belongs somewhere else

Not the metro.
Pess is claiming Rudd/Gillard was trying to fund the east west link.

Everyone take a moment to remember when the dream came alive for all the wealthy eastern residents:

And when it died (lulz):

May their commute be unbearable from here on in. Could always just use both "the private" Alamein and Glen Waverly lines (single track/uninterrupted/no other lines/commercial/country trains). Or even the pretentious tram that stretches all the way out to Vermont!!!

I suppose we could just deservice the Alamein line (given Ringwood line is within 1km of Camberwell, and Ashburton within 300m of Jordanville station :S) and force these people to drive to work. This would mean the ticket money could now go on tolls, and the project could be privately funded and paid for by the people who only live in that region, without using taxpayers from south east suburbs to fund their own road.

Re read the first link jane, if you are up to the basic comprehension skils

They never did swan promised 3 billion to metro even though EW link was on IA top ten list. Not that he actually had this money of course, the alp never had any money for the road. This was all about politics of course to wedge the lib state govt, something the Alp aghast never do.

IA had the number one project in Victoria as the Metro rail line. The EWL was not in IA top 10 for projects; it was assessed as being a potential project but final design and financial data had to be established.

Oh and the ALP would have funded the EWL if they had gone ahead with it the through the same means as the LNP.

No. The bailleu government failed to do basic government work and put some projects in to infrastructue australia, they were reminded plenty of times but for some reason they didnt. The funding went to other states and our share is now running at 18 %

Other states of all political persuasions managed it. When the alp vacated the monash westgate freeway bridge upgrade was in swing, but the prevailing thought was more rail work was due. Not a complete switch from road but a change in emphasis. Also happening at the time was repair work after weather events mainly in nsw and qld

Everyone understands the abject failure of the bailleu years

Absolute rubbish. Other liberal state governments managed the paperwork. They were beneficiaries of baiileus ineptness

Please dont tell me we are now pretending the bailleu govt wasnt among the worst in history

Pess this is where you made the claim.
Now back it up with your links showing (a) funding was available to Ballieu and (b) ALP commonwealth was exasperated because he wasn't requesting it.

You mean this link? http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/eastwest-road-tunnel-back-on-the-agenda-20111111-1nbws.html

Are there any braincells remaining Pess? Can I suggest you read that link again, assuming you read it the first time, and then quote from it here to show where it says: 1. Funding from commonwealth government for east link "was available to Baillieu at that time (2011) and 2/ the ALP commonwealth govt "were exasperated nothing was being requested - "

which is what you claimed at #575 and in other posts, Pess. Now back it up from that link or admit you've been posting greencreep frogshyte.

Im quoting myself which I suspect is your sick agenda jane

"Funding was available". No mention of east west link

Thanks for the link, but EW link was aimed at swinging outer east seats, theres nothing to be gained form places like camberwell, where I live.
Incidentally we were going to get a nice station upgrade but the good people of camberwell manned the barricades to preserve the ugly existing station beggars belief really

If gurujane is still reading, you linked to an article with this quote. How does this sit with rustbucket bailleu ?
Danger of losing workers ? It had already happened, and two years later east west link hadnt started
Just makes the job harder for dan really. And commonwealth money ? Its gone, or in that stupid box abbott says its locked away in

ed strong criticism earlier this year for being one of the only states that failed to submit a list of proposals to Infrastructure Australia for independent assessment. The Age revealed in June that Treasurer Kim Wells has ordered his department to urgently get to work on an infrastructure plan after being warned the state is at risk of losing investment and skilled workers to NSW and Queensland.

Quoting myself again. This is where i stupily rattled your cage. Agan no mention of east west link not in the last paragraph anyway

This is the quote from the article. No mention of east west link.

Just victorian liberal incompetence. It wasnt just the feds who were exasperated, it was the whole infrastrucuture industry.
