They run a business, not a football club. The whole situation stinks, contracts really aren't worth the paper they are written on. He signed a new 5-year deal just over a year ago & now he has to put in a transfer request because he wants to move. Chelsea have worked it in their favour with a complete lack of respect, but that's what those types of businesses can do - in football & the real world. Winners win, we just have to hope we can pick up the pieces & move on exactly like after Rooney.

In fairness the youngsters up aren't up to it yet, I think Browning needs a season on loan, Galloway is to young and Holgate and Pennington are still far to raw.

My first thought was If we can get 40m, we really can use that to improve the squad but Barnsley get about 15% of profits which will be around 4-5m so that already takes us down to 35m, we will then need to spend about 15m to sign someone to take his first team spot, the board will want to keep some of it, then the signing on fees and agent fees of signing new players and the now mutiple wages rather than just paying Stones wages comes into it and then we won't be left with any more than 15m of his sale to spend on the rest of the squad.

Remember Suarez in 2013/2014, wanted to leave Liverpool, Arsenal lodged two bids for him but Liverpool didn't let him go. He had an amazing season, almost single handily won them the league. A season later the sold him for double the price and got an extra amazing season out of him.

We cannot let him go, even if he wants to. It's the season before the Euro's he's not going to rage at the club and not play, not that I even think he'd do that anyways.
