Wow, that's an amazing selection. I actually really like this album (though it probably wouldn't be in my top 5 Floyd albums), but given the depth and breadth Pink Floyd's back catalogue, I've gotta say I've never encountered anyone who has had Final Cut as their favourite.

Kudos for uniqueness.

Surprising to see ‘Empire State’ mentioned – See You on the Other Side is a very underrated album after the first two and the more commercially successful following pair, but I would agree ‘Empire State’ is one of the best songs they ever did. On first hearing I misheard the title as “fire escape” for the curious.

I know generally speaking that everyone just wants bands to remake their 1st and 2nd albums over and over again... but I found Monomania to be a combination of their earlier loose, laid back style with the cleaner sound and production of Halcyon Digest.

Fair enough on the second bit, but I don't think the first bit can really apply to Deerhunter; Halcyon Digest was a pretty big change up from what came before it, yet is probably their best received album. I'm more of the opinion that Monomania was just a bit a mess.

Pink Floyd Animals should own this thread for the reason that not only is it the best album ever made (or at least mine) it only has five tracks so the decision of which tracks to choose as your favourite five is already made for you.

I mean come on three songs each over ten minutes of pure forceful orgasm to the ears sandwiched between two short beautiful bookends. What sort of genius can make an album like this and what sort of drug helped them.
