Re: Things people would like to see

That already happens, Easty. Commentary states the moves. I guess the positions could be added though.

I am fully aware of deciding to swap Lockett with Loewe, and then, halfway through, thinking "did I just select Lockett ... or Loewe?"

Re: (sim development) Things people would like to see

Yep that's a better suggestion :p

I'd like to see it too, but it's tricky to sort out. For backmen in backmen's positions to get more possessions, they need the ball there more often. This means it has to come down there more often, and therefore midfielders/onballers would need to get the ball more too. So it just becomes a vicious circle.

There are two other ways :

A. Have the backmen chip it among themselves more.
- I've already done this a bit. Obviously this increases risk of turnover and isn't really what you'd expect backmen to do overly. (One would hope).
- What I could try to work out is raise their likelihood of possession maintained when chipping xground (across the same line), only for backmen. Normally it happens to switch play and hopefully only when VERY clear. You aren't meant to kick from the pocket to your full back in the hope he can win a contested possession haha. Will mull it over.

OR

B. enable backmen to come up the ground sometimes and grab an extra possession or two. Quite possible, will look into it. The way it's coded though, they'll look like extra fast Sebastian Co style sprinters getting back to their dedicated spot when they lose possession in the midifeld. But it's still worth checkin out.

Will take this on-board. Definitely want them to be less of a dud position.

Re: (sim development) Things people would like to see

Crowd attendance\membership stat based on current ladder position or previous seasons. Just to add more detail and link it to real life. It would be a good banter target.

Re: (sim development) Things people would like to see

Not sure how much work it would take, but is it possible to have higher scoring games more frequently? I've noticed there's been a lot of low scoring games over the last couple of seasons.

Yes, it's on my bug list. Will be tweaked.

Re: (sim development) Things people would like to see

Qooty 10.0 is all about converting to QB64. Hence, most new features are put aside for future improvements, left out of this one. Only a couple have been implemented.

The two user-requested changes implemented in Qooty 10.0 will be :

Slow down ruckman's vote accumulation.
Have attempted this, will need feedback on whether it seems to have helped. Might take quite a lot of matches before we know.

Show first selected player during player transfer.
This has been added.

Qooty 10.0 (Qooty 64) is on it's way.

Re: Things people would like to see

Maybe include defensive stats? Goals conceded, spoils, etc?

Also a KP function? If a player selects to be a KP, they get a slight boost playing FF, CHF, RUCK, CHB, FB and a slight drop playing ROV, RR, CEN, HFF. Would it also be possible to increase the liklihood of KP players rotating through KP spots?

Similarly, NKP could receive a boost in ROV, RR, CEN, HFF and a drop when playing FF, CHF, RUCK, CHB, FB. Again increase likelihood of NKP rotating through NKP spots.

All players nominating UTIL get a slight boost playing HFF, HBF, FP, BP but a slight drop playing ROV, RUCK, FF, FB as these are probably the extremes of specialised positions? Equally likely to rotate through anywhere?

That way you could increase the rotations and add to the random aspect of the game without having stupid situations occuring as often where your RUCK goes to Rover and then to Forward Pocket before finishing up a half back flank?

Re: Things people would like to see

I have no idea what an NKP is so am ignoring all that part til I get more information.

Re smothers, spoils. That's already listed. Check the opening post.
KP = Key Position
NKP = Non key Position
UTIL = Utility

Re: Things people would like to see

Ok, thanks.

Generally your points then are :
- Increase KP prominence.
- Tweak the random changes into a more structured rotational functionality.

Sound about right?

Basically

I just feel that there could definitely be a more strategic element to building sides than just "going after the posters". A team with a plethora of NKP players may make a trade with another team with a plethora of KP players so as to enhance their chances of success. A slight boost might just be an incentive to not move players literally all over the shop.

Across my career I've been drafted as a ruckman that can play back, but played as a burst player off the interchange. After proving my worth early in my career, I broke straight into the Demons midfield where I excelled as a rover, before trying my hand as a winger and half forward flanker, including the odd game as a centre half forward. After being named captain of the Demons I moved into the ruck, playing when required as a Centre Half Back or Full Back. Meanwhile, in another competition I was playing predominantly as a forward pocket/full forward player so as to compliment my learning curve. Eventually I ended up a specialised rover, ruck rover, winger, center, half back flanker, ruckman and full forward at various stages of my career, which is kind of ridiculous given I'm meant to be a KP player.

If there's a slight edge given to player type, than it might just reduce absurities like this and allow a more relaistic game flow instead of having your ruckman replace your centre, and later your forward pocket and half back flank, all in the one game.

Re: Things people would like to see

What are the odds you could make a real basic DT tracker.

In that I say make a really basic program which would take the legwork out of running a dream team competition.

Each side picks a defender, midfielder, ruckman and forward, which are entered into the tracker, which then, upon manually adding the scoresheet for the round, works out the results of the DT "games"?

Re: Things people would like to see

1. Definitely possible.
2. A lot of work.
3. I would have to get more familiar with DT.

If it's a lot of work ti may not be worth it.

I've got another simple idea, but I don't have the ability to make it happen. I'll PM you.
