Sydney Olympic V Knights and Adelaide City v Western Sydney Wanderers. Some great clashes of ye olde and the new.

Berisha is going to get absolute pelters at the Estadio Frank Drago in Bayswater.

Whoops, Wrong Olympic. It's not Sydney Olympic.

Hopefully with time, we will see the prize money grow (once the competition becomes self sustainable) and maybe the winner even getting a playoff spot for the Asian Champions League or something like that.

How did the FFA decide on how many spots each state get? NSW have more than Qld and Vic combined...one from SA. Is it population based?

I'm fairly certain that its based around participation of football at grassroots. At least, I remember reading something along those lines.

So only one match is being shown on TV, wtf is that?
They have to show a minimum of 10 games throughout the entire cup, but have to option to broadcast more, so don't be surprised if they show a few more R32 matches. Hope they show Adel City v WSW, Sydney Olympic v Manly, Olympic FC v Melbourne Knights and Melbourne City v Sydney FC.

South Coast Wolves v Central Coast.

Battle of the Coasts! Will definitely be heading along. Any hope we have of getting an A-League team down here has to be supported by attendance to games.

A bit off topic but saw earlier today that Wollongong would be hosting a training camp for the A League All Stars before they play Juventus with Del Pierro set to be there. Hopefully that gives the local game another boost and gets the local fans excited!

Bayswater's game against Victory has been switched to Macedonia Park in Stirling because the lighting at Estadio Frank Drago isn't good enough. It's a shame as City's home ground is quite lovely and walking distance from my house.

can the FFA * this up anymore?

a-league only games being played in regional areas ffs

Do memberships allow A League fans to attend games for free despite being in regional areas (or do you still have to pay for the state league teams home games?).

Don't have a problem with games being played in regional areas as it should ultimately help grow the game/give those state league teams a nice boost.

That's the point...

so the point of the ffa cup is to play games kilometres away from your home ground?

there is so much wrong with this cup competition, it should have been much more simple and easy.

oh yeah i don't forget this is the first compeitive match for melbourne city and they are playing sydney fc (the history with the colour etc) can you imagine having this played on a saturday in melbourne, how much hype could be built for this? instead they are playing in ballarat on a tuesday night with probably no tv coverage

Bit strange having Broadmeadows vs Brisbane Strikers as the televised game I would've thought?

only a bit....

would have thought adelaide v wsw would be the best or even olympic v melb knights

Agree. They need to get priorities right. What would've been a big game now feels like anything but.

I hope the Newcastle Jets facilities are up to scratch. If not, Perth Glory will just get back on the bus and go home.
