Lol. Exactly what I was thinking.........

I'll ask Fred again if I can get a sub-forum here but if not, I've got a site :thumbsu:

Rules to be posted tomorrow and we could even start this weekend!

Why not at the start of the first season? I think people will lose interest if they don't have any say on there squad.

FOOTY FANATIC LEAGUE RULES

Team Lists/Submissions

IMPORTANT: Team Lists are located in the 'Team Lists' thread, and you will need to dowload the list (open file with 'MS Word') to see all of your players and player's stats. I will be updating stats each week, and supplying a download link to the new list each week (in 'Team Lists' Thread)

Teams can have a maximum of 48 players in total at all times.

You must pick 22 players plus 2 emergencies from your team each week.
These Players cannot be injured or suspended/reported.

Place all players in positions including 4 interchange players, emergencies, and a Kick-In Player (for when the opponent scores a behind) , then post your side in the approriate thread. (eg. Teams - Week 1).

Due date - Each Friday, 6pm.
Results - Posted on day of match.

Season Schedules

The season's schedule for the year can be located in the "Season Schedule" thread. A season will consist of 22 rounds, followed by a Finals series (Top 8), and finally, the Grand Final.

Development Points

Coaches are awarded a certain amount of development points each week
depending on how their team performs.

Coaches tell me which players on their team to use these points on in
the "Development Points" thread, as well as which group of categories.

I will randomly put development points on the different categories in each group selected, for each player you have selected, using a 'random number' program - 1 point at a time.

Development Points can be used on all players in your team including
injured or reported players, and any other players on your team.

Post which players you want your development points to go to, and how
many, before 6pm Friday's, to make sure your players get their points
added to them before the weekend's match.

You will be notified of which categories your points went to on each player in the "Development Points" thread and players will also be updated in the "Team Lists" thread.

Player's Groups/Categories are -

Disposal
Long Kick
Short Kick
Kick Max
Handball

Attack
Crumbs
Mark - Contested
Mark - Uncontested
Goal Accuracy - In Play
Goal Accuracy - Set Shot

Physical
Strength

Free Kick Tendancy
Discipline
Injury Tendency
Report Tendency
Leadership

Defense
Tackling
Defence - Ground
Defence - Air
Defence - One on One

Ruck
Hit Out (2 dev. points = 1 hitout point)

Each time a player gets 10 development points, whether it's in one hit or over several weeks, his overall rating will go up by 1.

You can also store development points if you wish, and they can even be
used for player trading at the end of a season (see 'Trading').

You may only use a maximum of 30 development points, per week.

Development Point Awards

Win game - 4 pts
Lose game - 2 pts
Draw game - 1 pts
Keep opp. below 40 pts for game - 2 pts

Minor Premiership - 4 pts (+8)
Wooden Spoon - 2 pts (+4)
Opponent Forfeits - 10 pts (+4)
Forfeit - 0 pts (+2)

I will post how many development points each team gets each week in the "Development Points" thread.

Players 28+ Years Old

For all players 28+ years old - their 'Health' category drops 5
points each year. Thier 'Overall Rating drops 2 points every year.

Retirements

Players who are 30+ years old have a random chance of retiring at the
end of a season.

The older they get, the more chance of retiring there is.

35 years old = Must Retire at end of year.

Injuries/Reports

Players can be injured or reported during matches.

How likely this is to happen depends on the players rating for the
categories, 'report tendency' and 'injury tendency'.

If a player does get injured or reported, it will be random as to how
long the player will be injured/suspended for.

This will be done by using a 'random number' program.

Obviously, the odds are set so that low numbers come up more often
than high numbers (to prevent every second player from being injured for 20
weeks or so...)

Injuries = 0 weeks to 22 weeks(season)

Reports = 0 weeks to 5 weeks

Reports/Injuries will be posted by me with the match results.

Trading

Trading will start at the end of the season, after the delisting
process, and will continue until the first week of the next season.

Coaches may offer trades to others in the 'Trades' thread and all
talk of trading is to be done there.

Trading can be done using players, draft picks, and development points,
or, combinations of the three.

There are no real rules to trading, its just a matter of offering,
declining and accepting.

Coaches may trade more development points than what they have if
they wish - All development points earned by that coach from then on,
go directly to the coach whom he owes until the debt is payed off.

*Extra Trade Rule - Having trouble getting a player from a fellow
coach?*

If you have tried 3 years running to get a particular player with no
success, when you are denied the 3rd time, that player will go straight into a
bid between the 2 coaches.

Bid Process

The coach trying to get the player (coach A) bids first, bidding a
certain amount of development points.

If the other coach (coach B) raises this bid by more than 10
development points, he keeps the player.

If not, Coach A finally gets the player.

NOTE: Only one bid each between the two coaches is allowed - this
prevents them from going, " 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 etc. etc." and makes
both coaches really have to think carefully.

NOTE: Bidding can only occur if a coach has unsuccessfully tried to get a player for 3 years straight.

Drafts

National - I will post a full list of new players with info about them,
and the draft will take place as normal, like the AFL, after
the 'delisting' process.

Pre-Season - I will post a full list of 'delisted' players and the
players who wern't chosen in the National Draft, and the
draft will take place as normal, like the AFL, after the
National Draft.

Delisting Players

Coaches can delist any unwanted players in the 'Delisting' thread.
This can only be done at the end of the year, after the Grand Final.

Emergency Players

Emergency Players may need to be called up if a player in your starting 22 falls ill before a match.

This will be determined randomly and set so that it wont happen often.

The player who falls ill, will also be determined randomly and he will be replaced by your most suitable (in my opinion) I/C player. The I/C player is then replaced by your first named emergency player

Sometimes 2 emergencies may need to be called up, but not very often.

Results/Ladder/Stats

All of these will be posted by me in the appropriate threads including:

Player and team stats
Ladder
Schedule
Mid-Season Stat Leaders
End-of-Year Stat Leaders
Injuries/Reports
Scores
Best Players for each match
Development Points

and more...

Players - Age/Weight/Height

Players will grow older as the years go by, however, due to the amount
of time it would take me, they will not get taller nor heavier. This is
the same for all teams though, and so, should not affect the game.

Questions

Q: VETERANS & ROOKIES

A: There are no Veterans or Rookies in this League - keeps things
simpler.

Q: SALARY CAPS/PLAYER SALARYS

A: There are no salarys or salary caps in this league - keeps things
simpler.

Q: PLAYERS DOB

A: The person who made the FF Team Lists, made them to use with the career mode in Footy Fanatic. The Careear Mode in FF is set to 2002 (as it was made in that year), so to make the player's ages correct, 4 years were taken off thier birth dates.

eg. Player is born in 1980

2006 - 1980 = 26 years old.

Minus four years from dob = 1976

2002 - 1976 = 26 years old
.

K Guys, Obviously all of the afore mentioned threads (Team Lists, Trading etc.) arn't there yet..........Need that sub-forum......

Any Q's???

Why can't we trade before season 1? Is this not possible with the program?

I'm sure everyone would prefer that and that coaches would get bored naming a side for 22 weeks without having a say on who's in that side.

As well as that it gives the poorer teams no chance to improve there squad to challenge the better sides. Only a few teams could possibly win the flag and the person who does win it would have done nothing to have earnt it - all they have to do is have gotten Adelaide/West Coast/whoever to start with. How can a Carlton or Essendon or any other mediocre team have any chance of improving if they can't trade?

Cheers

Lol. Well I was thinking through development points but hey, a trade it is!

I'm hoping we'll get this sub-forum soon so I can set up all the seperate threads....

But when we do start, we'll do a draft, and to make it interesting, each team will start with 10 development points so they have extra options for trading.

So as soon as the sub-forum is up, I'll make a 'trading' thread and all the rest, and we can get to it.

BTW, Whaddya reckon of the rules?

Very cool indeed illnino.

I'm guessing we'll start next week? Unless you are thinking what I'm thinking and start tonight.

You should start a trade thread so we can trade then just get it moved to the sub forum later :thumbsu:

No Probs.

IMPORTANT: Read the first bit of the rules again - 'Team Submission'- I had to change it a bit....

So now you guys will need to download the new lists each week or just update them yourselves ('development points' thread will contain all info for updating all team lists each week)

I'll make a 'Team List' thread so you can download the lists and I'll also make a 'trading' thread where you can start to trade. Remember - you start with 10 development points and the normal draft picks (R1-R6) and you can use either of these to trade with if you like.

Just looking at the lists. Hawthorn has Daniel Elstone and Cleve Hughes on their lists and they shouldnt be. Hughes is at the tigers and elstone I dont think he plays anywhere.,
