For those of you without Foxtel and can't stand the FTA footy shows, there is a good alternative available on YouTube. If you're a busy person and just want the important football information delivered in a few minutes by someone who takes their football seriously, then this is the channel for you. With graphics, audio and analysis that puts Channel 7's best to shame, Ash Footy TV delivers each week and you'll be left wishing you came across his channel years ago. Give me Ash over BT, Darce, Basil, Rompingwins etc any day of the week. Enjoy!

I think maybe the title of this thread was meant to read ...

"Footy fan on YouTube embarrasses himself on football analysis"

I'm leaning towards thinking it's a troll channel and this thread is a troll bait. Just the distance the "graphics" have him from the camera being too far and never changes ever, how he just says two things about the game any muppet could know, and how his shoddy delivery seems consistent = ie fake. Plus the jump endings and music blaring over his speaking sometimes. Theres always something truly fail about each video. Gotta be troll

There's not much point in putting that much effort into the graphics when the basics are so off Powerball.

- Cut the intro to 4 or 5 seconds. Leave your social media contacts till the end. No one is going to subscribe to something they haven't seen yet.
- Frame yourself better in at least a medium shot. You're a dot on the horizon.
-set up a camera 2 for visual interest. This is the equivalent of paragraphs.
- set up a propper mic. Its frustrating listening to tinny home video level audio.
- you're sentances are choppy. If you stumble in a sentance then do another take. It's painful trying to watch you get through a sentence.
- just drop the music. Its innapropriate and you aren't even attempting to balance the levels.

So, what are we going for here? Satire?

Agree with all of this but my main problem is that what you are trying to do isnt even the least bit original. Talking head behind a desk, we have channels of that s**t already. If you want to develop an audience you need to do something that differentiates yourself from the mountains of vanilla crap we have already and if you want to continue with this bland format it needs an awful lot of work

Yes, this is where blogs and these sort of endeavours fall down. The philosophy seems to be:
  • 'This coverage is crap! I could do better than this.'
  • Does a pissy rip-off of the same coverage, with no inside information, no expert analysis and no budget.
  • ????
  • Contract with Fox Footy
Be original. As much as we all love to bash Barrett, Robinson, Wilson, Smith, Ralph and co., they simply have access to information that we don't. As much as we lose our s**t every time Basil Zempilas or Hamish McLachlan gets the name of one of our young players wrong, they probably recognise the players from the other 17 teams better than we do. As much as Jono Brown and Matthew Richardson's contributions would seem somewhat obvious, you're hardly going to give any credibility to a special comments man who never made it past local ressies. So you've got to do something different, if you want people to care. They almost certainly won't care anyway, but if you're unoriginal, you're just wasting your time.
