Whoever takes Chip - take him, we'll be more than happy with the first rounder that we'll get for him

The fact Robbo does not even mention Geelong's interest tells me he is writing bullshit. Whether Geelong is interested or not still is immaterial; fact is they have openly expressed interest, yet this little fact is overlooked by the bullfrog

Article is from April. Perhaps Geelong at that point had not thrown their hat into the ring.

Frawley has also come out since that article and said that he never put a $800k target on his head p/y, he's also shot down the rumours of wanting a 7 year deal. Keep those two facts in mind.

Why would he publicly admit it? As recent history has shown you can't take what the free agents say as 'fact'.

Yeah, but asking for a 7 year deal and $800K per annum is tantamount to football suicide. I reckon Gary Lyon is behind this misinformation!

1 - Retire - Goodes, ROK, Shaw and maybe LRT. Open up 1.3 million+ in the cap.
2 - Trade - Malceski to Melbourne for 3rd rounder - This way Sydney get something after signing Frawley and Melbourne retain best possible compo. Call it the "Monfries Rule" - Open a further 400k.
3 - Sign Frawley to 7 year deal for 700k per season. 1 mil remaining.
4 - Draft 4 new players (Incl Isaac "Best midfielder in draft history" Heeney) @ 75k each. 700k remaining.
5 - Watch Eddie and Co explode about "Cheating Swans" because they look at headlines instead of balance sheets
6 - Profit

This will be fantastic when it happens.

:D

Go get him Swans!
We can't trade Malceski, he's an unrestriced free agent.

But we can trade Tom Mitchell for Calton's first rounder (lose Malceski - 400 000 and Mitchell - 400 000), get Heeney, Frawley, and the number 6 pick!

7. Ignore that other players will be asking for more money and so that there isn't really '700k remaining' unless Sydney want to put 700k into someone who isn't really that much of an upgrade on their current KB's, infact Richards is better, while losing Malceski who is more important (especially retiring Shaw).

I think the main interest from a swans fans point of view is covering Richards of and when he retires

It really is as simple as that.
As long as clubs are prepared to trade certain players (Mumford last year), they can get very good players to their club.
You have provided a great scenario.
You also could have thrown in trading a contracted Tom Mitchell to Carlton for Malceski's replacement in a contracted Yarran.

Oh Eddie!

Plus the Franklin deal was brokered before the COLA changes which will come into effect at the beginning of 2017. It may well have been, and I suspect the case, that the extra money to be freed by Goodes and ROK etc was earmarked for Franklin and general wage demands.

So he has 2 goals kicked on him in 1qtr and you make your judgement in 1 game.

If you want some stats since 2009 he has had a Avg of 1.7 goals a game kicked on him, in which he is just off from the likes of Glass Scarlett Mcpharlin and Lake.

Last year Melb won 2 games got smashed in almost every game the ball lived in our defence yet in 17 games he only had 25 goals kicked against him, and only twice did his opponent kick more than 2 goals.

People are just judging him harshly cause they believe the media report on the money he is after and the years he wants, But the stats dont lie he is 1 of the best full backs in the league u can put him on the best forward and be confident that most times he will beat his opponent.

I think the main problem with Frawley is that he's playing forward. He doesn't look comfortable and it's hard to remember what he is capable of as a defender, when he is kicking less than a goal a game as a forward.

I suspect Roos knows he's gone and doing it on purpose but it's not helping him achieve maximum worth.

There are loopholes like Sydney, but it's unrealistic to think that you can get the best terms at the best clubs.

These players have always been linked to us as far back as Plugger.

The difference these last few years is that the players that have come to us were totally out of the blue.

Stay tuned for next year's surprise.
It suits us mate. Tippett was silly after a flag, Buddy was ridiculous but made sense because of the 9, Danger/Frawley on big money would be overkill.

Even if ROK/LRT/Shaw/Malceski leave or retire, you still hve fun telling Parker he'll be earning 250k and Hannerberry 400k.

Eventually, after winning another flag or getting close, they'll realise their earning power and walk out on you like these blokes are doing.

I think it would be silly to recruit another big name. Your list is good enough at the top end for now.

Good luck to Frawley, seems like he's going to get well over the odds in terms of money and years on the contract. For a pure backman who doesn't seem to be captaincy material or bring people through the gate that's a great effort.
Especially one who drops his head after every goal, and isn't even that good anymore. Either that, or his head has been elsewhere this season.

He was okay forward at the start, but when we put him in the backline he threw out the balance.

Thought you were currently paying about $1.8 mill for 2 key forwards now, why would you want another?

Then again, Frawley has been playing as a forward under Roos so maybe he's grooming him to meet the Swans most desperate need. ;)
And a guy ( Mitchell ) getting 500K a year to play in the Magoos ... How the F..k do they manage this ?

They're both signed until the end of 2016. Tippett will be out of contract before they are. More chance of him leaving than either Parker or Hannebery.

I remember seeing Crawley having a lengthy chat with J Waite after a recent game where we towelled them. Recruiting convoy I reckon.
